SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION 10

Time Allotment: 1 hr.

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
 describe street dance and hip-hop dances, and their dance styles.
 share the contribution of street dance and hip-hop dances to fitness.
 execute street and hip-hop dance styles.

II. SUBJECT-MATTER
Topic: Street and Hip-Hop Dances
Sub-topic: Street and Hip-Hop Dance Styles
Reference: Physical Education and Health 10 Learner’s Manual
Instructional Materials: laptop, speaker

III. TEACHING STRATEGIES


A. Preparation

Socratic Method
 What is Yoga?
 What are the benefits of Yoga?
a.3 Motivation
The teacher will present certain dance steps:
 Glide step
 Box step
 Pump Step
 Pull down
 Turn step
 Jumping Jack Changes
The teacher will call students randomly to interpret the dance step assigned to each
of them, in accordance to the dance pattern written on the textbook
B. Lesson Proper
The teacher will ask first the students if they have an idea about each component
of the lesson, then the teacher will discuss it respectively:
 Street Dance
 Full Street Dance
 Hip-Hop
 Hip-Hop Culture
 Street and Hip-Hop Dance Styles
 The contribution of street and hip-hop dance to fitness
Presentation of videos is followed after discussion on certain component of the
lesson.
C. Generalization
The students will be asked the following questions:
 Where is Street Dance performed?
 What is Hip-Hop?
 How Hip-hop differs from Hip-Hop Dance?
 What are the Street and Hip-Hop Dance Styles?
 In what ways Street Dance and Hip-hop Dance help achieve fitness?

D. Application
The teacher will group the class into four (4) groups. Each group will produce a 2-
minute hip-hop dance performance.

Criteria:
 Choreography - 40%
 Mastery - 30%
 Originality - 20%
 Overall impact - 10%

IV. Evaluation
The teacher will ask the students to share their reflection/reaction on their hip-hop
dance performance. The teacher will also ask; how hip-hop dance benefit them?

V. ASSIGNMENT
Watch the full movie or movie clips of the movie “Step Up 4” and learn some dance
steps from it.
