For you to have an idea on what will be the
focus of our discussion for today, I have
prepared an activity called “ Ayusin mo, Iidkit
mo para malaman mo” The mechanics of this
activity is I will divide your class into two
groups, one group for girls and one group for
boys. You were going to arrange the cut
letters into words. These words are the dance
styles in Hip-Hop dance. After revealing the
word post it on the board. The first one to the Yes ma’am
task will receive a price. Did you get it class?

Our topic for today’s discussion is all about
the Hip-Hop dance.
Can you read the definition of hip-hop dance?

It is a style movement characterized by bounces
The most common dance styles in Hip- and rocks, executed to hip-hop music.
Hop dance are b-boying, popping,
locking, krumping, tutting, shuffling and
waaking. We have 7 different dance
styles.

Those are the 7 dance styles in Hip-Hop.
Let’s elaborate each styles. The first on is B-
Boying.

B-boying in hip-hop is also known as
Breaking or Breakdancing and the dancers are
called B-Boys or B-Girls. It's one of many
dances that crossover with Street Dance and
Hip Hop, but the key difference is dancing on
the breakbeats or 'Bs'.

The 2nd one is Popping Popping dance is a style of dance that started
in the late 1960's and 70's. This dance style is
characterized by sudden tensing and releasing
of the muscles "hitting" to the rhythm of beats
in music.

Locking is just stopping right in the middle of
a quick movement and holding that position
for a moment before flowing back into your
dance. It's pretty easy to do. Just go through
your routine and put these stops at different

Finger-tutting is a type of dance that involves
intricate movements of the fingers. The word
tutting is a street dance style based on angular
movements which are supposed to stylize the

shuffling
