Annual Prize Day

Annual Prize Day is an event held yearly to appreciate those students who have
excelled in academics as well as other spheres such as sports and other competitions . Highly
awaited by the students , the Prize Day this year was no less exciting . Where students get to
stand with pride at the fruit of their labor with their proud parents watching by .

• OBJECTIVES

• To acknowledge the achievements of students who have have exceptionally


performed in academics and sports and other extracurricular activities throughout the year .
• To improve the self esteem of students by awarding them for their hard work and
perseverance .
• To serve as a motivational tool which will provide encouragement to students to
perform better .
• To felicitate the students who performed well in the yearly Board Exams .
• To show the progress made by the students throughout the years .

• AWARD SELECTION

Awards were of four different categories . Special Awards , General Proficiency , JSS
Scholar and Subject Toppers .

Special Awards were given to those who have shown incredible performance in other
fields . The special awards this year included Outstanding Delegate of HRC at HMUN ,
which was bagged by Adithiyan Rajan of Grade 11 , Diya Tamse who won the All India
Tennis Tournament 2018 , Jhanvi Dargar who won Outstanding Achievement Award . She
passed all the 14 ACCA exams and was accepted into IIM Indore . And finally , Utkarsh
Raturi for participation in the SCGI ( School Games Federation of India 2018.

General Proficiency is awarded to those who have the highest total marks in the year’s
performance . There are three tiers to this award .The JSS Scholar is awarded to those
students who have consistently performed well in their examinations throughout the year
.Subject Toppers are awarded to those have scored the highest in a particular subject .

• PREPERATION

As school had only begun the same week , there was little time for extensive rehearsal
and practice . Despite this , the students and staff were able to organize the programme and
carry it on smoothly . The students were informed of their prizes the beginning of the week
and practice was carried out the following day . The practice included finalizing the order in
which the students’ names were announced as well as arranging their seating positions
accordingly . The photographs of the achievers were also taken to be put into the
presentation .

A full run through was also carried out prior to the main event .

• THE MAIN EVENT

The whole program was a successful event under the able guidance of our principal and
headmaster. All the supervisors , teachers and students worked collectively and altruistically to
mke this event a grand one.

The discipline in the auditorium was maintained by the student council as well as the
senior secondary students under the guidance of the teachers. The tech booth was managed
by Arnav Datt Mehta and Rutish Krishna of Grade 11 , who also live-streamed the event on
the school instagram page , so those who were unable to attend the event could watch it as
well .
Prior to the ceremony beginning , the school choir performed to the song ‘I Have A
Dream’ . Thereafter , there was a recitation from the Holy Quran by Mutahar from Grade
11 . The event was hosted by two of the eleventh grade students - Svedha Ashok and Gauri
Parvati .Once the introduction was given by Aparna ma’am and the two hosts and the lighting
of the lamp was completed , the award ceremony had begun .

The results of ISC and ICSE 2018 were announced during the ceremony . JSS had
performed extremely well in this year exams with 8 Centums in ISC and 7 Centums in ICSE .
The results for ISC and ICSE were announced by Ms Aparna Rajan . Some of the awardees
of the passed out batch of ISC 2018 were present to collect their prizes while some parents
were present to collect their offspring’s awards as well .
The awards received by the primary students of Grades 4 and 5 were announced by Ms
Kavitha , Grades 6 by Ms Keerthy and Grades 7 and 8 by Ms Nonika .
The awards for Grades 9 and 11 were announced by Ms Gayathri .
Once all the awards were distributed , Boban Sir , the Physical Education head who
won the Best Physical Education Teacher Indian National Serving Abroad by the Physical
Education Foundation of India was felicitated by the Chief Guest - Dr Ramesh Kamath and
the CEO - Dr DP Shivkumar .

After the chief guest’s address , the event was closed with the Vote of Thanks delivered
by Ms Aparna Rajan . Parents were offered refreshments after .

• THE CHIEF GUEST

• The chief guest for the ceremony was Dr Ramesh Kamath , who was triple
engineering qualification and a doctorate in Parapsychology from the United Kingdom . He
is a philanthropist who aims for world peace and has imparted computer education to the
rural masses and has 20 years of experience in Personality Development Program. He is
also a motivational speaker . During the chief guest’s address , we got an insight into Dr
Kamath’s life . Dr Kamath gave us important lessons on insecurity and the importance
serving one’s country .

• OUTCOME

This ceremony truly makes all the hard work the students undertake worthwhile . To be
acknowledged for one’s achievements creates a sense of pride and fulfillment in everyone’s
hearts . And , all the students watching from the audience were also inspired to work hard and
be one of the students walking down the stage the next prize day .
