1. Is ISO 14001 an adequate standard to prevent pollutions? Why or why not?

• Yes it is. ISO 14001's standard was created to help companies/organizations to create their
own Environmental Management System (EMS) and performance measure to reduce their
impact on the environment. ISO 14001's standard helps to prevent pollution and improves the
environment by developing their initial steps such as Environmental policy, Planning,
Implementation and operation checking and corrective action and the Management Review.
Their Standard for companies is that to provide a framework which central goal is to reduce
pollution.

2. Does ISO 14001 ensure environmental sustainability? Why or why not?

• Yes it does. ISO 14001 is widely recognized as the primary ISO standard to help organizations
to have an effective Environmental management system(EMS) and limiting the environmental
impact. There are steps can be taken using ISO 14001 principles within EMS to actually
safeguard sustainability and reducing the environmental impact such as Recycling products,
Establishing measurements, Understand the lifecycle of your product and Ensure the
opportunity. The environment will be protected and developed by using a sustainable practices.

3. Is pollution prevention considered Sustainability?

• Yes, pollution prevention considered sustainability. Pollution results from waste and the best
way to reduced it is to prevent it from being created in the first place. Doing things smarter and
valuing every resource, understanding how waste is produced and how it can be minimize is the
first step to reduce waste. To prevent pollution there are some sustainable practices that we
can do like reducing of plastic packaging and discouraging food waste as well s promoting the
use of recyclable materials. And with a comprehensive pollution prevention program, most
pollution can be reduced, reused or prevented. In that way, pollution prevention is an essential
components of sustainability.
