Garvin’s five views on quality and examples:

Transcendent approach
Quality is achieved through experience and it is recognizable with just
seeing it.
Apple company is an example with so many years back that they validate it since
it is one of the most used equipment in first world countries

Product based approach

Reflected by differences in product and it’s attributes
In recent years, it can be seen from the iPhone 8 eliminating too many ports to
make way for wireless connectivity, making it easier and more subtle for the user, so
many companies have replicated this.

User based approach

Based on personal views. Durability is the key factor and the user
determines the quality of the goods/services.
Thinkpads come into place again for this approach on quality. They are not the
most powerful or even the fastest laptops on the market, but user satisfaction with the
product over the years means that it is of a greater quality because it adequates with
the requirements of the people who buy them.

Manufacturing based approach

The better it conforms to requirements, the better the quality.
While this approach doesn’t take in mind user’s preference of the product, it does
provide objective and measurable quality data that the enterprise or organization can
take advantage of. Apple now tests their products on trends, and while it might have to
do what the user wants, their iPhones and laptops do enough but to reach certain
manufacturing requirements to stay ahead of the competition.

Value based approach

Better performance at lower cost is recognized as a quality product. Worth
or value is quality.
Videogame consoles are almost always taken for granted that the manufacturers
often charge more for them, yet they are sold at a loss for the company. If the
manufacturer sold the product for the actual value almost no one would buy them, but
since they are sold for cheaper, the worth of that actual console results in trading the
quality against the cost of manufacturing. Resulting in a product which users actually
think is of greater quality because they get their money’s worth.
