3. HIT Rebar Method

The standards which form part of the assessment and verification of constancy of
performance of an anchor are as follows:

1. EOTA European Assessment Document EAD 330087-00-0601 “Systems for Post


Installed Rebar Connections with Mortar”
2. EOTA European Assessment Document EAD 331522-00-0601 for post installed rebar
with mortar under seismic action”

Correct installation

1. Concrete has been compacted properly in the area of fastening


2. Holes are drilled perpendicular to surface of concrete
3. Drilling is carried out according to the manufacturer’s installation instruction
4. Hammer drill bits conforming to ISO 5468 or National Standards are used
5. Diameter of the segment for diamond core drilling complies with the prescribed diameter
6. Holes are cleaned according to the manufacturer’s instruction which are given in the ETA
7. Reinforcement in close proximity to the hole position should not be damaged during drilling.
In prestressed concrete elements, the distance between the drilling hole and the prestressed
reinforcement shall be at least 50 mm.
8. Inspection and approval of the correct installation of fasteners must be carried out by the
engineer in-charge.

Installation Steps

Post-installed rebars should be installed as per manufacturer’s installation instruction. The following
