1. The following frequency distribution gives the ages of 200 persons living in a district.

2. A survey of 200 families known to be regular TV viewers was carried out. They were asked which
of the three TV channels they watched most during an average week. Their replies are summarised
in the following table along with the region in which they live.

3. It is known that the mean mass of a packet of biscuits at a certain factory is 395 grams. The mass,
in grams, of each of ten randomly chosen packets of biscuits, is presented in the table below.
(a) Assuming that the sample is taken from a normal population with mean, µ, calculate
(b) A t-test is carried out at the 5% level of significance to determine whether the mean mass
has increased.
(i) Formulate null and alternative hypotheses. [2 marks]
