1. The word safety refers to your freedom from danger, injury and damage, and to your personal security.
In addition, Safety means a complete understanding of your work and knowledge of every step that must be taken
and the realization that mistakes could be costly to yourself and to the company. Moreover, safety is a state of
being protected from potential harm or something that has been designed to protect and prevent harm. Safety
and health in the workplace means making sure that workers and others are protected from anything that may
cause harm, effectively controlling any risks to injury or health that could arise in the workplace. This includes
wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) like: safety belt, helmet, safety shoes, googles and lanyards.
2. Safety and health programs help businesses prevent workplace injuries and illnesses while working in
a hazardous environment. They also reduce injury/illness costs in addition to reducing absenteeism and turnover.
On the other hand, they increase productivity and quality and raise employee morale. Furthermore, these
programs engage workers and enhance their social responsibility goals, increase productivity and enhance overall
business operations.
3. Common workplace health and safety hazards include: communicable disease, transportation
accidents, workplace violence, slipping and falling, toxic events, particularly chemical and gas exposure, getting
struck by objects, electrocution or explosion, repetitive motion and ergonomic injuries, and hearing loss.
4. Business owners and employers are legally responsible for health and safety management. This means
they need to make sure that employees, and anyone who visits their premises, are protected from anything that
may cause harm, and control any risks to injury or health that could arise in the workplace. In the same way,
workers must: take reasonable care for their own health and safety and the safety of others who may be affected
