SUDOKU

A Sudoku puzzle is defined as a logic-based, number-placement puzzle. The objective is to

fill the puzzle with digits in such a way that each column, each row and each 3 x 3 grids
make up the larger 9 x 9 grid containing digits from 1 to 9 without any repetition.

GENERAL MECHANICS

1. All participants must be a bona fide student of St. Nicholas Academy: CCEI, the contest is
open to all grade 7-10.
2. There is a limit of one (1) student per section.
3. The application Cube Timer will be used in recording the time of every participant.
4. The top 3 contestants from each grade level will be recognized as winners.

CONTEST PROPER

1. The Sudoku contest is composed of three (3) rounds. The participants are given 30 minutes
each round to answer 1 puzzle.

EASY- Standard Sudoku Average- Standard Sudoku Difficult- Wordoku

2. The number of points per puzzle will depend on the level of difficulty and every correct answer
will be given 1 point. Bonus points shall be computed and considered at the end of the three
rounds. Any puzzler in any category who finishes answering correctly all the puzzles before the
allotted time get corresponding bonus points.

RECORDED TIME BONUS POINTS

Earlier or exactly 30 mins. 5
31 – 40 mins 4
41 – 50 mins 3
51 mins – 1 hr. & 10 mins 2
1 hr. & 11 mins – 1 hr. & 29 mins 1

For wordoku puzzle, if any puzzler able to reveal the mystery word he/she will receive
additional 5 points in his/her score for this round.

3. In determining the top scorers, the sum of the scores in every round of each participant shall be
added and ranked accordingly. The top five (3) highest scorers will be recognized as winners- 1 st,
2nd, 3rd placers.

4. In case of a tie, they will answer one more wordoku puzzle. The wordoku puzzles will be
checked and in case of another tie, the first one who finished it first will be the winner.

5. Any concern regarding the result of the contest shall be entertained only after the checking.

6. Awarding shall take place after 5 minutes after the committee solve the concerns (if any).

7. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable
