a dynamic and vibrant space that
encourages creativity, ideation and
growth of each individual through
collaborative spaces that enhances

Conservation Studio- Group Project
Introduction
OLD ST OR IES NEW S C R IP T The project was divided into two parts:
Study Phase and Design Phase. Badegaun
being on the verse of identity crisis and
destruction of the existing heritages, we
analysed the issues and proposed the
solutions in such a way that the heritages
are not compromised.

Issues
• Complicated property ownership
• The lack of an urban plan, owned
by the municipality
• Unplanned development in the
new town threatens the visual unity of
the Old Town.
• Failure to understand the need for
design guidance.
• The lack of access to private and/
or government capital and grants

Old Stories
• Satellite city of the traditional town
of Patan
• Historical Route to the settlement
through Tanga gate
• Historically gated City
• Historically designated resting
place on the way to Godawari
• Kal Bhairab built on the ruins and The current plan proposes a 22 m wide road through the badegaun settlement that if happens destroys the whole
as a vantage point of the city town of badegaun. So, a proposal was made in order to conserve the town and an alternate route was proposed

road. So, a proposal was made in which the traditional route was converted into a
heritage walk route going through the gates and main attraction points of the settle-
ment. This allowed the revival of the old settlement, their ways and their traditions.
