CHAPTER I
PRELIMINARY
A. Background

Industrial Work Practices, is one of the implementation of professional

skills education that combines systematic and synchronous between school
education programs and the acquisition of expertise acquired through direct work
activities with the world of work in a direction to shape students' skills and
mentality so that when they graduate from vocational school they are ready in the
world work.
Industrial Work Practices are carried out with the expectation that as students who
graduate later, they can apply the knowledge and skills received by the school, so
that in the future students working in the company can develop the knowledge. In
addition, students are expected to be able to improve their expertise and work
ethic which includes work ability, work motivation, initiative, creativity, and
discipline in work.
Considering that industrial work practice is an introduction and briefing to the
world of work for high school students, as a place to apply the knowledge we
gained from school to gain a variety of experiences in the company.
High school students although not yet working and a steady income, to be able to
learn to generate their own income in the form of food and overtime pay
generated by the company. Do industrial work practices of high school students
can learn independently and away from parents to get accustomed to working later
after graduating school.
B. Operation Basis
Idustrial work pracrices carried out for 3 months, held on july 23th, 2018
to october 23th, 2018 at the PRN bunihayu village, jalan cagak sub-
districk, subang districk, west java province.

CHAPTER II
PROFIL OF COMPANY
A. History Of PT.Perkakas Rekadaya Nusantara
PT. Perkakas Rekadaya Nusantara (PT. PRN) is a manufacturing company
located in a mountainous area of 400,000 m2 near the tea plantation area in
Bunihayu Village, Subang, a distance of 40 km from the city of Bandung.

PT. PRN was officially established on the date of May 5, 1999 by Ir. Djoni
Rosadi, with a business license as a company in the field of research and
development of agricultural equipment, in collaboration with the Indonesian
Institute for Knowledge Development (LLL). The initial goal of the company was
to undertake risest development of agricultural equipment for the continuation of
the improvement of agricultural equipment technology. After being legally
registered, PT. PRN began conducting Research & Development (R&D) and built
its machinery facilities until 2001.
In 2002 PT. PRN gets a business expansion permit in the manufacturing sector.
PT. PRN has utilized this business expansion permit by opening the widest market
for the automotive and machining industries.
After evaluating the competency at the end of 2002, it was concluded that PT.
PRN has the capability in the field of manufacturing special process machines, the
following is subsequently a core competence of PT. PRN.

2
B. Vision And Mission Of PT.PRN
B.1. Vision
PT PRN vision is to make PT. PRN as a reliable international industry, is
calculated in the global industrial environment on the basis of quality, profitability
and growth, and plays an active role in national economic development.
B.2. Mission
The mission of PT. PRN is generating profits from the production of
automotive components, heavy equipment, mining equipment, agricultural
equipment, machine tools, tools & jigs and engineering services that meet quality
standards that are recognized globally with the orientation of national and
international scale businesses with the support of human resources who have high
quality and integrity supported by high-tech and efficient manufacturing facilities.

C. Goal/Purpose PT.PRN

The objectives to be achieved by PT. PRN is to increase capacity and

market share, especially mass production so that it can become the backbone of
the company's operations. This is to achieve the company's targets, namely:
1. 50% of mass products
2. 25% of job order products
3. 25% special machine products

CHAPTER III
WORK PRACTICE IMPLEMENTATION
A. Description Of Industrial Work Practices Activities
1.1. GMAW
GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) MIG MAG Is one type of welding
process or connection of metal material that uses a heat source of electrical energy
that is converted or converted to heat energy, in this GMAW Welding process
uses a welding wire that is rolled in a roll and uses gas as a protective metal
welding that melts during the welding process.

4
1.1.1. Adventage of GMAW
 GMAW welding has a high welding efficiency, because there is no need to
replace the welding wire frequently
 Can be used for all types of materials and welding positios

5
 Does not produce crust or slag so it does not need a lot of cleaning process
1.1.2. Disadventage of GMAW
 Burnback often occurs during welding
 If the protective gas does not come out perfectly then porosity defects can
occur
 The welding set up must be more detailed os that the weld results are
maximum
 Unstable arc
1.2. Machine Lathe
CNC lathe or lathe is removing parts of the workpiece to obtain a certain
shape where the workpiece is rotated at a certain speed with the process of feeding
by the chisel with feeding speed (feeding) which is operated in parallel with the
rotating axis of the workpiece.
CNC lathe system has a basic movement principle like a manual (conventional)
lathe, which is a vertical and horizontal movement with the X and Z axis
coordinate system. The working principle of a CNC lathe is actually the same as a
manual (conventional) lathe: mounted on a moving chill while the cutting tool is
stationary.

Explanation of the coordinate coordinates on the lathe or cnc lathe as follows:

v The X-axis is for vertical transverse direction perpendicular to the rotary axis or
diameter making.
v The Z-axis is for horizontal movement direction extending parallel to the rotary

6
axis.
Preparation as if using a cnc lathe or lathe
1. Prepare the necessary tools such as a lathe chisel, chuck wrench, etc.,
2. Make sure the engine is still off and the engine is protected from flammable
objects,
3. Make sure the engine oil or lubricant is filled,
4. Installing a lathe tool at the tool house (tool post)

CNC Lathe Parts :

 Program
 Processor
 Servo electric motor to drive tool control
 Electric motor for moving / turning the chisel
 Chisel or holder
 Holder or tool post
1.2.1. Advantage of lathe
1. Production can be enlarged or reduced
2. The level of accuracy of measurements is more accurate
3. No need to carry out continuous checks
4. The time needed for manufacturing is faster
5. Inventoryed components can be reduced
6. Does not require a large area for the engine
7. Operators do not have to be skilled like conventional lathe operators

1.2.2. Disadventage of lathe

1. Manufacturing simple workpiece components becomes difficult because it
uses a complicated format.
2. The initial capital needed is greater.

7
3. Requires higher maintenance costs.
4. Engine performance depends on NC equipment.
5. Need experts who can program with computers and NC equipment.

CHAPTER IV
CONCLUSION & RECOMENDATION
A. Conclusion

During the implemantation of industry work practice the author can

couclude as follow:

1) Industrial work practices very much experience and knowledge we gained

2) Industrial work practices can add to the insights that i have gained so far,
because only with practice can i find out how far my abilities have been at
school
B. Recomendation
B.1. Addressed to the school

Based on implementation of prakerin school should

1) Give an uniform for participant of industry work practice to

support them in worker relationship
2) It is hoped that schoos will be more complete in carrying out their
industrial work practices with material that can be useful when
implementing internships
B.2. Addressed to the industry

Based impelemtation of prakerin industry should

1) It is expected that the industry will provide guidance in advance

abou the job description so that students can understand what work
will be faced
