Scania Alert, general

Scania Alert is an electronic system designed to help keep the


driver awake by means of audible signals which vary in fre-
quency and duration. The signals are generated in an electronic
unit but the sound comes from the radio loudspeaker on the
driver’s side. The system can be turned on and off with a switch.

Main components of the system


• S37 Switch.
• E16 Electronic unit.
• N3 Loudspeaker, driver side.
For other components, see the connection diagram.

1 Remove loudspeakers N3 and N4 and also

2 Remove the screws securing the roof shelf 2 16 1 2
at the front. Exercise care if the shelf is
heavily loaded and support it if necessary.

3 Fit wiring harness 1 366 171 in the front of C201
the roof shelf.

4 Plug the connector into E16 and fit E16 in 1 2
the predrilled holes.

5 Plug in connector C200.
6 Mount the ALERT sign and pushbutton S37 S 37
on the panel in the positions shown in the
location drawing. Connect the wiring to the 1 3 4 2 6
switch.
7 Unplug connector N3 from the loudspeaker

and connect it to N3/201 on the wiring.

8 Connect N3 on the new wiring harness to

9 Conduct an operational test.
