3 Take the cutter from kit 588 664 and place it
in the tool holder. Fit the cover on the tool
holder. The cutter should have the cutting
end pointing out from R on the cover.

4 Clean the bottom surface of the cylinder

head thoroughly. Place the centering ring in
position.

5 Fit the cylinder liner cutter.

IMPORTANT! Make sure that the vertical feed

is in maximum position, so that the cutter does
not strike the surface when the cylinder liner
cutter is placed in position.

6 Set the switch to position 2.
7 Wind the cylinder liner cutter and hold at
the same time the vertical feed screw. Stop
winding when the cutter edge just contacts
the top surface of the cylinder head.

8 Check the reading on the vertical feed scale.

The machining depth should be 0.2 mm.

9 Wind the cylinder liner cutter at the same

time as holding the vertical feed screw.
When a cutting depth of 0.2 mm on the
scale has been attained (i.e. checked value
+ 0.2 mm), feeding should be interrupted by
releasing the vertical feed screw. Continue
winding a few turns until there is no
resistance to the winding and the groove is
finished.
