OSI TCP/IP
Developed by ISO (International Standard Developed by ARPANET (Advanced Research Project
Organization) Agency Network).
It has 7 layers It has 4 layers
OSI model provides a clear distinction TCP/IP doesn't have any clear distinguishing
between interfaces, services, and points between services, interfaces, and
protocols. protocols.
Follows vertical approach. Follows horizontal approach.

communication with other systems.

OSI model helps you to standardize router, TCP/IP helps you to establish a connection between
switch, motherboard, and other hardware different types of computers.

2. Group Observation
There are noticeable features of each model that makes them function as communication and
connection systems that we use today. Both the OSI and TCP/IP have differences, but they complement
each other as it only improves the overall network protocol concept. We observed that the TCP model is
the practical and more simplified approach to its predecessor, the OSI. One of the difference they have is
that the OSI presents the orders in 4 layers, combining the 2 layers from the 7 layers that the TCP/IP model
initially had. These models are really helpful as it serves as a framework for understanding the flow of data
transport process. The essence of learning about the prototype models is to serve as a guide for amateur
programmers like us to know the basics of facilitating digital communication.

3. Individual Synthesis
Astudillo, Zeejay G.
OSI has 7 layers while TCP/IP has 4 layers. The OSI Model is a logical and conceptual version that defines
network communication utilized by structures open to interconnection and communication with different
structures. On the opposite hand, TCP/IP lets you decide how a selected computer ought to be linked to
the internet and the way you may be transmitted among them.
Baniqued, Jocelle M.
The OSI or the Open Systems Interconnection reference model and TCP/IP or the Transmission Control
Protocol/Internet Protocol model for me are models that act like blueprints. These models define what
protocols are needed to build a network and shows how everything in the network is built. These models
have differences and similarities. Some differences are, in OSI, the model has 7 layers and the model was
developed first and then the protocols in each layer were developed. In the TCP/IP, the model has 4 layers,
also the protocols were developed first and then the model was developed. Both models are being
compared, but both models have the same model.

Lorenzana, Jasmine M.
These both models have its similarities and differences. The OSI (The Open System Interconnection)
Model have 7 layers while the TCP/IP or the Internet Protocol Model it is only 5 layers but when the 2 layer
combine at the bottom it can also be 4 layers. But when we take a look for this 2 models it also the same
but the model that we are using in the real world is the TCP/IP Model. The both model helps sender to send
data and receiver to receive the data. Different layer have its own purpose and role to help transfer data.

Soriano, Nygie Mae C.

For this activity, after watching the video there are similarities and differences. The OSI (Open System
Interconnection) is a model it is a conceptual model aimed to standardize the network communication. OSI
is composed of 7 layers consisting of Application, Presentation, Session, Transport, Network, Data Link,
and Physical. While the TCP /IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol) is composed of 4 layers
consisting of Application, Transport, Internet, and Network Access. OSI model provides guidelines on how
does communication to be done, while TCP/IP is a more practical model.

Tacadino, Arrianne G.
The OSI and TCP/IP models have its similarities and differences. The similarity that I observed in the video
and during the lecture is the arrange layer of the model. The structure or layer itself was called architectural
model. The major difference of two models is that OSI has 7 layers while the TCP/IP is only consisting of 4
layers.

Tolentino, Ken
OSI model was created to be a reference model to describe the functions of communications systems. This
model consist 7 layers that describing different functions on how data traveling through a network. In
TCP/IP it was created as a public networking model it describes the overall guidelines for implementing
computer protocols. The TCP/IP model consist of 4 layers, each layered enabled to implement some
functionality into a networking device.
Queyquep, Andre
Upon finishing the video it was made very clear to me that OSI Model is a conceptual model that is not fully
implemented but it was aimed to standardize network communication. While the TCP/IP simplified the 7
layers that OSI had turning it into 4 layers which is better as it is modular supporting additional protocols
and hardware.
