TITLE

 Pneumatic Circuits (Sequences)

OBJECTIVES

 To assemble pneumatic circuits via a few sequences and describe the operations of the

circuit.

APPARATUS

 Air compressor unit - Double acting pneumatic cylinder

 Push button switches
 Limit switches
 OR valve
 AND valve
 Directional control valve
 Timer
 Quick valve
 One way flow control valve

PROCEDURE

1. The circuit is assembled

2. The assembled circuit is tested to show that it is fully functional
3. The circuit operate is observed

Transferring unit system in the packing section is designed as shown as in Figure 1. This unit

consists of the two double acting cylinders. The parts are pushes by cylinder A and then

transferred onto a chute by cylinder B to be transferred to the packing section.

RESULT
DISCUSSION

1. State the limitations of using pneumatic systems.

Pneumatic systems possess a lot of advantages, but they are also subject to many

limitations where pneumatic systems are relatively low accuracy. As the volume of air

may change when compressed or heated, the supply of air to the system may not be

accurate and can cause a decreasing in the overall accuracy of the system. Moreover,

pneumatic systems required the process before it can be used. Compressed air must be

processed before use to ensure the absence of water vapors or dust that can make the

moving parts of the system quickly wear out due to friction. Pneumatic system also low

loading as the cylinder of pneumatic components are not very large, and it cannot drive

loads that are too heavy.

2. What are the components that regulate the pressure ?

Pressure regulating components are formed by various components, each of which has

its own pneumatic symbol. First, filter that can remove impurities from compressed air

before it is fed to the pneumatic components. Second is pressure regulator, that can

stabilize the pressure and regulate the operation of pneumatic components. And the last

is lubricator that provide the lubrication for pneumatic components.

3. State the precautions or safety measures when using pneumatic systems.

There are several precautions and safety measures that should be considered when

using a pneumatic control systems. Compressed air can cause serious damage to the

human body if they enter the body through ducts like the oral cavity or ears.

Furthermore, before switching on a compressed air supply unit, one should thoroughly

inspect the whole circuit to see if there are any loose parts, abnormal pressure or

damaged pipes to prevent accidents due to loose pipe that may shake violently because

of the high pressure that build inside it. Last but not least, switches should be installed

on the compressed air supply unit to allow easy and speedy control air flow.
CONCLUSION

Based on the pneumatic circuit above, we can conclude that the objective of the experiment is

achieved. We are enable to assemble pneumatic circuit via a few sequences and enable to

describe the operations of the circuit. As we know, the pneumatic circuit uses gas to transmit

power. Air is commonly used as a gas because it is readily available, inexpensive, and can be

returned to the atmosphere after use. Air is extremely compressible and elastic. It is capable of

absorbing large amounts of potential energy. These properties of compressed air make possible

smooth acceleration and decelerationn and reversal of direction of mechanical motions, with

relative freedom from shock.
