1.1. GENERAL

1.1.1. Scope of Work

1.1.1.1. Although not limited to, the scope of work shall be as follows:

a) Contractor shall confirm anchor design based on calculations, experience on

this type of work and knowledge of site conditions;

b) Contractor shall prepare the work based on Design and Geotechnical

Report, considering site constraints, adjoining property, water table level and
other requirements stated in the Contract Documents;

c) Submit a complete method statement for approval by Supervision;

d) Supply and install anchors according to Design and approved method

statement, including all the necessary materials and equipment.

1.1.2. References

1.1.2.1. In addition to Contract Documents, materials and installation shall be in accordance

with the latest version of the following:

a) EN 1537:1999 – Ground Anchors.

1.1.3. Submittals

1.1.3.1. Contractor shall submit calculations by a competent Engineer confirming anchor

design to Supervision’s satisfaction.

1.1.3.2. Contractor shall submit a complete method statement for the Engineer’s approval,
not less than 20 days prior to commencement of anchor installation, including the
following information:

Material submissions

1.1.3.3. Shop drawings shall be submitted for approval by Supervision including, but not
limited to:
B. Shop drawings shall be submitted for review prior to proceeding with the work.

1. Shop drawings shall include, but not be limited to:

a. Rock Anchor Schedule giving:

· Rock anchor number

· Load for each rock anchor

· Type and size of rock anchor

· Bonded length, and

· Stressing length

b. A drawing of the rock anchor system and corrosion protection including:

· Centralizers and their location

· Anchorage, and

· Anchorage, bonded length and stressing length corrosion protection system

c. Calculations: Design calculations shall be submitted for review. Design calculations shall
include a determination of the bonded length for each rock anchor.

2. The Contractor shall also submit the following information for review not less than 20
working days prior to the commencement of rock anchor installation:

a. Prestressing steel bar manufacturer’s mill test reports for the rock anchors.

b. Applicable literature from cement grout suppliers giving details on setting times as a function
of temperature, strength gain with time, and recommended storage, mixing and placement
procedures.

c. Applicable manufacturer certification and/or literature for anchorage fittings and accessories:

d. Detailed description of the proposed procedures, including specific makes and models of
equipment to be used for drilling, placing, grouting, and post-tensioning rock anchors.
e. Detailed description of proposed procedures and applicable manufacturer’s literature for the
equipment to be used for testing rock anchors, including but not limited to the following:

(1) The description shall include diagrams showing the arrangement of the testing equipment
relative to the rock anchor and anchorage hardware, the method for locking-off the required
transfer load, and calibration data for the system of jack and gauges.

(2) The calibration of the testing equipment shall have been performed by a certified independent
testing laboratory no more than twenty working days prior to the initial testing on site of rock
anchors and shall be presented in the form of gauge pressure vs. actual jack force.

b) 3. During grouting operations, the following data shall be recorded by the Contractor and
submitted:

c)

d) a. Type of mixer and grout pump

e) b. Type of grout

f) c. Water/grout ratio
Types of additives and their concentrations in mix

g) e. Grout injection pressure

h) f. Test sample strength

i) g. Volume of grout placed

1.1.4. Quality Assurance

1.1.4.1. Anchor design shall be confirmed by a competent Engineer engaged

by the Contractor, which has designed a minimum of three anchor projects of
similar capacity and conditions in the last seven years. Signed calculations shall
be submitted together with the method statement for the Engineer’s approval.

1.1.4.2. Anchors to be installed shall be a complete system fabricated by a

recognized Manufacturer, well experienced in the development and fabrication
of anchors similar to those specified in the Design.

1.1.4.3. Anchors shall be installed by a specialty firm which is regularly

engaged in the installation of anchors and has at least seven years experience
in the installation of anchors similar to those specified in the Design.

1.1.4.4. Logging of core and preparation of drilling logs and records shall be
performed by a competent Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer who has at least
five years experience in identifying and logging rock core and soil samples.
