Chapter 5: Microorganisms
● Microorganisms are living things that you need a
microscope to see.
● Bacteria, viruses, and fungi are microorganisms.
● Germs are microorganisms that cause disease.
● Microorganisms (like fungi) like warm and wet
environments.
● Bacteria and fungi are decomposers - they break
down dead things and poop.
● Decomposers recycle nutrients in an ecosystem.

Chapter 6: More About Dissolving


● When you add salt to water, the salt dissolves.
● Some solids can dissolve and others cannot dissolve.
● Soluble means it can dissolve (like salt), and insoluble means it cannot dissolve
(like chalk).
● Stirring fast, small pieces of solid, and heat can all make a solid dissolve faster.
● To separate a soluble thing from water, you should heat the water.
● To separate an insoluble thing from water, you should use a filter.

Chapter 7: Reversible and Irreversible Changes


● Reversible means that you can do the experiment again, and nothing new is
created.
● Irreversible means that you can do the experiment once, and something new is
created.
