study Topic: A quantitative study on the perceptions of High School coach-athlete

relationship

Purpose of the Study and Research Question

Purpose of the

The purpose of this quantitative, correlational study is to examine perceptions of the High

School coach-athlete relationship. The study will investigate the student-athletes' perceptions of

the quality of the currently existing coach-athlete relationships and also the ratings of the

student-athlete satisfactions. What problems do the coach-athlete relationships encounter in high

schools, and how can we be able to see the rating of the relationship by examining student-

athletes. Another aim of the study was also to determine if student-athlete perceptions of the

existing quality of coach-athlete relationships have a predictive relationship with their own

ratings of athlete satisfaction. This quantitative study will help in determining the relationship

between the leadership of a coach and the athletes’’ grit (goal setting, persistence, passion, time

management, tenacity, goal achievement, and also perseverance) and self-efficacy.

Specifically, the study will be going after determining whether the behaviors informed by

democratic behavior, training and instruction, social support, autocratic behavior, and the

positive feedback of the coached impacted the student-athletes. The use of questionnaires will be

the best method where student-athletes can give their responses and feelings about their current

coach-athlete relationship. The study results are expected to offer an educational leadership team

with proven data about perceptions of High School coach-athlete relationship a proper

correlational design to foster grit, which is good for improving the coach-athlete relationship.

The main variable which was measured was student satisfaction and student grades. Student
