Belleville Washer Pull Disconnect

DESCRIPTION/APPLICATION:
The Belleville Washer Pull Disconnect is a secondary disconnect tool
designed to be used with the Electric Line Setting Tool and can be used
instead of the a Shear Screw Pull Disconnect (Product No. 330-80-2107)
when low release values are required. It provides a secondary method of
disconnecting the setting tool from the bridge plug should the hydraulic
running tool fail to release the setting tool from a set bridge plug.
By using Belleville Washers instead of shear screws, the force required to
disconnect is repeatable and dependable. Compression of the washers
allows the movement required to release the disconnect. The washers act
as a buffer and are not affected by the jarring force of running the tools. This
jarring effect can cause fatigue and failure of shear screws on designs that
rely on shear screws to carry the load of the assembly.

OPERATION:
The release value of the Belleville Washer Type Pull Disconnect is adjusted
to disconnect at less than the value of the electric wireline rope socket by
means of the external adjusting sleeve and the value verified by simple test.
The tool is run between the electric line setting tool and the hydraulic
running tool. If, for any reason, the plug inflates but the hydraulic running
tool fails to release, steady over-pull on the electric wireline will compress
the Belleville Washers, allowing sufficient movement in the pull disconnect
to release the collet fingers from the groove in the fishing neck, and release
the pull disconnect. The electric line and electric line setting tool can then
be retrieved from the well.

external adjusting sleeve
• Small seal diameter to keep pressure generated forces to a
minimum and prevent hydraulic release while setting a plug
• If disconnected, the tool leaves a standard slickline 2" external
fishing neck facing up
