COMMUNICATION IN ENGLISH
Tutor: Carlos Mario Benavides Vergara. NIVEL: ___VI_____. FECHA: 07/05/2020.
INSTRUCCIÓN: Read the following statements carefully, and then solve the motivating situations or
questions according to the tool requested in the text.
1.1.- The bugs are errors in a computer program that either will not let the program run (fairly easy to
find), or will let the program run but will produce incorrect output (very difficult to find). By a brief text (no
more than ten lines), show how you consider the software bugs impact the development of business in
computers field.
The software bugs presented in business operations hinder all kinds of functions, from the operation of the
web pages where they can serve as access to customers, users and suppliers. In the field of information, an
error can make it difficult to store, transaction and consult stored data. A massive failure can lead to the
total downfall of accounting systems, human resource systems, payroll, purchasing, and marketing. In turn,
the software bugs presented in the network devices can directly influence the access and transfer of
information, either to a database stored in the cloud or to a remotely stored database. The services offered
by companies and the tools used by companies can be directly affected when system errors occur, be they
ERP, web pages, user interfaces or operating systems.
1.2.- The operating system supervises, among other aspects, the CPU time and main memory to programs
running on the computer. Through a semantic map, explain what other processes the OS does, and what its
influence in the function of the computers work is.
1.3.- A LAN is a network that is used for communicating among computer devices, usually within an office
building or home. LAN’s enable the sharing of resources such as files or hardware devices that may be
needed by multiple users. From this point of view, make a simple diagram, indicating the advantages of a
LAN.
1.4.- In the computing environment, computer architecture is a description of the physical construction
and distribution of computer components. According to this, through a graphic diagram, explain what the
major characteristics of computers are.
1.5.- The function of a system, that is the target of an attack, is to supply information. Generally, there is
a flow of data from a source to a destination over a communication channel. Through a synoptic table,
explain the sources, destination, communication channels, and the task of the security system.
1.6.- Multimedia is the field concerned with the computer-controlled integration of text, graphics,
drawings, still and moving images, animation, audio, and any other media where every type of information
can be signified, stored, communicated and handled digitally. There are many branches of Multimedia, for
instance, Multimedia Applications. Designing a brief scheme, explain the topics that Multimedia
Applications cover in the field of Science and Technology.
1.7.- Web clients / Browser is a very common model of computing in networking. Through a flow chart,
illustrates how this model works, and what its importance in the development of business in an enterprise
(trading market) is.
1.8.- A model for enabling ubiquitous, on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable computing
resources (e.g., computer networks, servers, storage, applications and services) is Cloud Computing. In a
short text explain the concept of Cloud Computing and show how it operates and why this model is
important.
In a cloud computing system, there is a significant change in workload. The user's computer no longer has
to do all the heavy lifting when it comes to running applications. The network of computers that make up
the cloud takes care of it instead. All the user needs to be able to run is the cloud computing system
interface software, which can be as simple as a web browser, and the cloud network does the rest.
Front end: the “client” side, from which we interact with Cloud Computing services, either through a web
browser or a specific application for it on any device.
Internet connection: the channel through which we can access Cloud Computing services from the Front
end.
Back end: the "server" side, the computers that run Cloud Computing applications and services and store
the data.
2.- COMPONENT TWO: Grammar Content.
2.1.- Direction: Construct predictions according to the situation. Use GOING TO or WILL according to the
situation. It is very important you take into consideration the uses of GOING TO and WILL to make
predictions.
2.1.1. Pedro is a farmer; he lives on a farm in La Dorada Caldas. He is looking at the sky right now, and sees that
- there are quite a few black clouds. He makes the following prediction:
Prediction:
2.1.5. Every day, newspapers print horoscopes telling people what will happen in their lives that day.
- Horoscopes make predictions about people’s jobs and careers. Horoscopes also make predictions about
people’s relationships, their health and their finances. Sandra likes horoscopes, and she is reading a
prediction about herself. She is very lucky her horoscope might say something like this:
Prediction:
2.2.- Direction: Read the following situations and give a solution through “suggestions or obligations”. Use
SHOULD or MUST according to the situation. Pay attention to the uses of the Modals SHOULD and MUST.
2.2.1. Ricardo is 26 years old. Lately he has been feeling very ill. Currently, he weighs 90 Kg. He decided to go to
- the doctor. Here is what the doctor told him:
Suggestion / Obligation:
2.2.3. Laura is very smart; she is Colombian. She has just finished her professional career, and for having good
- grades, she has won a scholarship to study in the United States. At the embassy, she received many
directions about the trip. However, there is something that is essential for her to travel:
Suggestion / Obligation:
2.2.4. Enrique and Juan live in Honda Tolima. They are merchants and need to go to Bogota to buy items to
- supply their business premises. They require a lot of money. Their friends warn them NOT TO DO
something, so that they feel safe and will not be robbed:
Suggestion / Obligation:
2.2.5. Fredy lived in Brazil the last five years. Now, he returns to Colombia. In addition to his luggage, he brings a
- bonsai tree, a small lizard and some typical foods from Rio de Janeiro. When he arrives at the airport, at
the immigration office, he is told of something that he CAN NOT do if he wants to enter Colombia:
Suggestion / Obligation:
FREDY YOU MUST NOT ENTER FOREIGN PLANTS OR ANIMALS INTO THE COUNTRY
3.1.- Give your opinion regarding your own performance in the development of the “Communication in
English” Course, regarding:
3.1.1.- Punctuality in the delivery of reports:
IN A BEGINNING I HAD DIFFICULTIES WITH THE DELIVERY TIMES, SINCE THE PREPARATION OF THE WRITTEN
WORK WAS DIFFICULT
THE GROUP DISTRIBUTED FUNCTIONS AND DELEGATED RESPONSIBILITIES, CIPAS WAS COMMITTED TO THE
ACTIVITIES
3.1.3.- Contributions at virtual meetings:
THE PLANNED ACTIVITIES WERE GIVEN EFFICIENTLY, THE VIRTUAL METHODOLOGY WAS NOT AN
IMPEDIMENT TO LEARN ABOUT THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMMUNICATIONS
THE DIFFICULTIES I HAD WERE IN A BEGINNING WITH THE WRITTEN WORK STRUCTURE, BUT AFTER THE
INSTRUCTOR'S CLARIFICATIONS I WAS ABLE TO IMPROVE THE DELIVERIES.
PRONUNCIATION BECAME DIFFICULT TO ME BUT WITH ACTIVITIES IMPROVE
THE TUTORIES WERE CARRIED OUT AS PLANNED, THE COURSE OBJECTIVES WERE FULFILLED.
THE GREAT KNOWLEDGE SHARING TUTOR DEMONSTRATED TO MASTER THE TOPICS TO BE TREATED AND
THE FACT OF GIVING THE CLASSES IN ENGLISH HELPED ME IN THE LISTENING
THE VIRTUAL MEETINGS WERE LOVELY, I DID NOT GENERATE DELAY OR THE INTERRUPTION OF THE
INTENDED ACTIVITIES, THE TUTOR AND THE STUDENTS ADAPTED TO THE MODALITY
