Past Perfect Tense

We use the Simple Past to talk about something that happened in the past. Then
if we want to talk about things that happened before that time, we use the Past
Perfect.
Yesterday, Yesterday, at 9 p.m. Now
at 8 p.m. (Past) (Present)

I went to bed. You came to my house. “I had gone to bed before


you came to my house”.

Past Perfect (S + had + V3)

I gone to the rooftop
