1. Data

- are characteristics or information, usually numerical, that are collected through observation.
Data is a set of values that are either qualitative or quantitative about objects of persons.

2. Qualitative variables

- Also known as categorical variables are variables with no natural sense of ordering hence, it is
measured on a nominal scale.

3. Quantitative variables

- Variables that are measures on a numeric or quantitative scale such as ordinal, interval and
ratio scales.

4. Nominal value/level

- A nominal variable is used to name, label or to categorize particular attributes that are being
measure. It takes qualitative values in presenting different categories that have no intrinsic order.

5. Ordinal value/level

- Ordinal value is a type of measurement variable that takes values with an order or rank. It is
the second level of measurement and an extension of nominal value.

6. Interval value/level

- It is a measurement variable that is used to define values measured along a scale, with each
point placed at an equal distance from one another.

7. Random Sampling

- Random sampling is a sampling technique in which each sample has an equal probability of
being drawn.

8. Systematic Sampling

- Type of probability sampling method in which sample members from a larger population are
selected according to a random starting point but with a fixed, periodic interval.

9. Stratified Sampling

- Method that involves the division of a population into smaller sub-groups known as strata.
Strata are formed based on member’s shared attributes.

10. Cluster Sampling

- Sampling method that divides the population into separate groups, called cluster. Then, a
simple random sample from the cluster is selected from the population.
