HYDRAULIC POWER - INTRODUCTION

General Auxiliary Hydraulic Systems

The main and auxiliary hydraulic systems supply The two auxiliary systems are the standby hydraulic
pressurized fluid to these airplane systems: system and the power transfer unit (PTU) system.

- Primary flight controls The standby hydraulic system supplies hydraulic power
- Secondary flight controls to these components:
- Landing gear extension and retraction
- Nose wheel steering - Rudder
- Main gear brakes - Leading edge flaps and slats
- Thrust reversers. - Both thrust reversers.

These systems make up the hydraulic power system: The PTU is the alternate source of hydraulic power for
the leading edge flaps and slats.
- Main hydraulic systems

- Auxiliary systems
- Hydraulic indicating systems. The hydraulic indicating system shows these indications
in the flight compartment:

Training Information Point

The hydraulic servicing system fills all hydraulic
reservoirs from one central location. The hydraulic systems use BMS 3-11 hydraulic fluid.
