DISSERTATION

TOPIC :-
ENERGY CONSCIOUS ARCHITECTURE
INTRODUCTION;-
The importance of energy conscious buildings has assumed great urgency today.
In light of fast depleting energy resources, energy scarcity and increasing
environmental pollution, innovative ways to cut down energy consumption are
necessary. The construction industry is one of the largest energy consuming
sectors. In modern buildings significant amounts of energy are also consumed to
keep the building environment comfortable. The residential, commercial and
institutional building sector consumed 31 percent of global energy and emitted
1900 mega tons of carbon in 1990. By 2050, its share is expected to rise to 38
percent and 3800 mega tons respectively.

AIM & OBJECTIVE :-

MY AIM OF THIS DESSERTATION TO MAKE A PRACTICAL STUDY OF ENERGY CONSCIOUS
DESIGN AND TECHNICS .

THE GOAL IS HOW THIS TECHNICS REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF ENERGY REQUIRED FOR
BUILDING, TO USE LESS HEATING AND COOLING ENERGY TO ACHIEVE AND MAINTAIN A
COMFORTABLE TEMPRETURE.

TO STUDY THAT HOW ENRGY CONSCIOUS DESIGN EFFECT ECONOMICALLY & HOW
COMFORTABLE IS IT FOR HUMAN AND ENVIORMET.

:-

HYPOTHESIS:-
I WANT TO PROVE THAT BY THE ENERGY CONSCIOUS DESIGN AND TECHNICS REDUCE THE
AMOUNT ENERGY REQUIRED FOR BUILDING, TO USE LESS HEATING AND COOLING ENERGY TO
ACHIEVE AND MAINTAIN EXTERNAL COMFORTABLE TEMPRETURE.

TO SHOW THAT HOW ENRGY CONSCIOUS DESIGN EXTERNAL THERMAL COMFORT & HOW IT
IMPROVE MICRO CLIMATE.
SCOPE AND LIMITATION;-
The study includes the conceptual and technical meanings of energy conscious
buildings. It includes the various eco sensitive measures, both with respect to
renewable and non-renewable energy resources and the ways to incorporate
them in new constructions especially in non-residential buildings.
This dissertation is not aimed to be all inclusive. It is confined to a relatively
smaller number of examples due to the constraints of time on this academic
exercise. Scope of the study is oriented towards futuristic approach .

METHODOLOGY:-
THIS DESIGN WILL USE TWO TYPES OF RESEARCH:

 RESEARCH ‘ FOR DESIGN’ AND

 RESEARCH ‘ BY DESIGN’ AND

The Research ‘for Design’ phase will include the primary data collection i.e through literature
study of the subject.

In the primary data collection , that will include data collection of certain site’s , climatic
reports , history of the subject , and other useful factor’s. Most the information will be sourced
through libraries, internet and useful sources.

The Research ‘ by Design’ phase will include the further study on the subject i.e through live
case studies. Collecting useful information through peoples, live study , and libraries.

Problems and questions will be identified throughout the project which will result in relevant
architectural solutions.
