JOLLIBEE
in 1975, Tony Tan Caktiong and his family opened a Magnolia ice cream parlor in Cubao, Quezon
City. The outlet later began offering hot meals and sandwiches upon request from customers. When
the food items became more popular than ice cream, the family decided to convert the ice cream
parlor into a fast food restaurant which became the first Jollibee outlet in 1978. Management
consultant Manuel C. Lumba advised the family on the change in strategy. Initially Jollibee was
named "Jolibe" but changed its name to "Jollibee".
The company that would be managing the chain of fast food, Jollibee Foods Corporation was
incorporated in January 1978. By the end of that year, there were seven branches in Metro Manila.
The first franchised outlet of Jollibee opened in Santa Cruz, Manila in 1979.
Jollibee experienced rapid growth. It was able to withstand the entry of McDonald's in the Philippines
in 1981 by focusing on the specific tastes of the Filipino market, which differed from the American
fast food company. The first Jollibee store overseas opened in Taiwan in 1986 which is now
closed. Jollibee continued to expand and set up outlets both within the country and abroad.  Mr. Tan
Caktiong, the son of poor Chinese immigrants, is now a billionaire.

MCDONALDS
McDonald's Corporation is an American fast food company, founded in 1940 as a restaurant
operated by Richard and Maurice McDonald, in San Bernardino, California, United States. They
rechristened their business as a hamburger stand, and later turned the company into a franchise,
with the Golden Arches logo being introduced in 1953 at a location in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1955, Ray
Kroc, a businessman, joined the company as a franchise agent and proceeded to purchase the
chain from the McDonald brothers. McDonald's had its original headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois,
but moved its global headquarters to Chicago in June 2018.
McDonald's is the world's largest restaurant chain by revenue,[  serving over 69 million customers
daily in over 100 countries across 37,855 outlets as of 2018. Although McDonald's is best known for
its hamburgers, cheeseburgers and French fries, they feature chicken products, breakfast items, soft
drinks, milkshakes, wraps, and desserts. In response to changing consumer tastes and a negative
backlash because of the unhealthiness of their food the company has added to its
menu salads, fish, smoothies, and fruit. The McDonald's Corporation revenues come from the rent,
royalties, and fees paid by the franchisees, as well as sales in company-operated restaurants.
According to two reports published in 2018, McDonald's is the world's second-largest private
employer with 1.7 million employees (behind Walmart with 2.3 million employees).

SIMMILARITIES:

They are both fast food places that serve coke. I see Jollibee as a Chicken and rice fast food
restaurant that also serves hamburgers. I see McDonalds as a hamburger fast food
restaurant that now also serves Chicken and rice. If I want chicken and rice, I can go to either
place. If I want a hamburger, then I will go McDonalds like most foreigners.
WHY THEY BECAME SUCCESSFUL?

These five things have lead this two giant companies to become successful.

1. Maintain consistency.

No matter where you are in the world, you can be certain that when you walk into a
McDonald’s and Jollibee you’re going to have a familiar experience in terms of the menu,
food wrapping and design of the building.

2. Establish a brand presence.

A strong brand presence helps your business build credibility and memories with your
customers that will convert them into lifelong advocates. If you're struggling with your
brand, here are a few tips to brand your company better.

3. Take risks.

Even though they both practices consistency, these two companies isn’t afraid to take risks
and tinker with their menu. The original menu only included a hamburger, cheeseburger,
fries, shake and beverages. Over the years, the chain has added twist in their menu.

While there have been failures, without taking those risks, they probably would not have
grown into the global juggernaut that we know of today.

4. Adapt to customer’s changing tastes.

Both companies realizes that it’s vital to adapt to the needs and wants of customers. For
example, the company scrapped the Super-Size option and began offering healthier options
as more people have become more health conscience.

5. Learn how to work with people.

Employees of both companies have to not only work with the public but also know how to
work with colleagues. While congenial working and speaking with one another situations
are valuable for essentially every business out there,
