Teachers are licensed professionals who possesses dignity and reputation with


high moral values as well as technical and professional competence. In the practice of their noble
profession, they strictly adhere to, observe, and practice this set of ethical and moral principles,
standards, and values. 

2. Does the code cover those teaching in the tertiary level?

No. The code includes the private school teachers covers all public and private teachers in all
educational institutions at the preschool, primary, elementary and secondary levels only whether
academic, vocational, special, technical or non-formal.

4. How does the teacher become the trustee of cultural and educational heritage of the nation?

A teacher becomes the trustee of cultural and educational heritage of the nation and is under
obligation to transmit to learners such heritage as well as to elevate national morality, promote
national pride, cultivate love of country, instill allegiance to the constitution and for all duly constituted
authorities and promote obedience to the laws of the state. (Article 2 Section 1)

5. What are the confidential records a teacher must keep?

Educational records are those records that are directly related to a student that contain
personally identifiable information and are maintained by the school. Education records include a
range of information about a student that is maintained in schools in any recorded way, such as
handwriting, print, computer media, video or audio tape, film, etc. Such confidential records include
date and place of birth, parent(s) and/or guardian addresses, and where parents can be contacted in
emergencies; Grades, test scores, courses taken, academic specializations and activities, and official
letters regarding a student's status in school; Special education records; Medical and health records
that the school creates or collects and maintains; Documentation of attendance, schools attended,
courses taken, awards conferred, and degrees earned; Personal information such as a student's
identification code, social security number, picture, or other information that would make it easy to
identify or locate a student. Also, a teacher must keep confidential information concerning associates
and the school.
6. What should a teacher do if consulted by the officers of the student council regarding school policies
which they question and he/she does too?

According to Article 6 Section 1 of the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers, every teacher
shall make it his duties to make an honest effort to understand and support the legitimate policies of
the school and the administration regardless of personal feeling or private opinion and shall faithfully
carry them out.

7. Write 5 teacher’s actions that violate the Articles.

- accepts favors or gifts from learners, their parents or others in their behalf in exchange for
requested concessions, especially if underserved
- inflicts corporal punishment on offending learners and makes deductions from their scholastic
ratings as a punishment for acts which are clearly not manifestation of poor scholarship
- makes false accusations or charges against superiors specially under anonymity
- uses position or facial authority or influence to coerce any other person to follow any political

- The teacher must love his pupils and he must understand them individually and try to help them in
overcoming their difficulties.
