Headmistress’s Newsletter

Issue 118 18 September 2020

Starting Secondary School……
We are always keen to hear how our Y6 leavers are getting on at their new secondary school, and
this year is no exception. I have heard that many children are settling well, getting to know new
routines, learning bus routes and making lots of new friends. Apparently, the food is NEVER as
good as Mrs Sutherland’s and the homework is a doddle compared to Mrs Prescott’s!! I often
hear from secondary headteachers that our children are among the most polite and hardworking
that they have – I am always very proud indeed.

Well done to all our 2020 leavers who look very smart indeed in their new uniforms:

Jeans 4 Genes

Thank you to all children (and staff) for

wearing jeans to school today. We raised
£291.91 for this worthwhile cause.

MacMillan Coffee Morning

Unfortunately, due to current Covid restrictions, we will not be running our MacMillan Coffee Morning, due
to take place on Friday 25th September. Hopefully, we will be able to re-arrange a similar event at some
point in the future.

Being ‘Forceful in Year 5

Year 5's Science topic this term is 'Forces'. On Monday afternoon, our investigation question was:
Does a heavier lighter object fall quicker than a lighter object? During the lesson, the children
practised many scientific skills including: predicting, measuring, weighing and observing. Here are
some action shots of them!

Bikeability
This week Year 1 took part in their first 'Bikeability Balance' session. Children participated in lots
of fun games carried out on balance bikes to develop handling and awareness. The children are
so looking forward to continuing this course over the next few weeks. Thank you to Debbie
from Take Pride for running the course.
