My dear CBEAns,

I hope that this note finds all of you safe and in good health. This may be long, but I hope that you would find time to read this 'til the
end.
I have been receiving reports from your professors that many of you have just copied and pasted your answers to assigned case
studies, etc. and even answers to your final exams. I have instructed them to RETURN those final exams which they would find to
have been copied and pasted. We will not tolerate any form of dishonesty or cheating. That is too much of a favor or even
consideration that you are asking of us while in the midst of this pandemic.
We have given you all the utmost leniency in the submission and completion of your assigned tasks as we considered that many
of you may have limited or no access to a good internet connection. We have also let all your rants (valid or not; with or without
justifiable reasons) about online classes pass, because we tried to understand you, the best we could.
But may I be allowed to tell you that whether we like it or not, this is the new normal. We understand that you were overwhelmed by
the quick turn of events - we too, were. It would be long before we could go back to our face-to-face class modality. This new normal,
which would require either flexible learning arrangements or full (asynchronous or synchronous) online classes for the coming months
would require you to READ most of the time. This new normal is of INDEPENDENT STUDY - a self-paced one.
Many of you blame your professors for “not teaching”, but do you realize that you do not learn because YOU DON'T READ and
DON'T TRY TO COMPREHEND what you have read? And then you question the quality of teaching of your professors? How
about the quality of your studying? The quality of time you spend in studying? How would you learn if your professors will just
spoon-feed everything to you? We understand that you all are adjusting with all these changes, but aren't we all?
Like you, your professors deserve a fair treatment.
Some of you have also been oblivious of giving respect and courtesy particularly on social media. If you have concerns or issues
regarding your subjects, why don't you first ask your professors, rather than maligning them in public or in a group on social media?
What have you to say about some of you posting indecent pictures, commenting with vulgar/disrespectful words? Is that the attitude
becoming of a CBEAn?
To those who are under the socialized/subsidized tuition program, please be reminded as well that although we understand that your
parents may be hard up on finances (we also are, mind you), your rants on the REFUND of fees, I should say, are baseless (Pardon
me). Why did I say that? Because you are already enjoying discounts on your TOTAL FEES by as low as 40.65% percent to as much
as 64.97% percent (based on the amount of scholarship grant applied over the total amount due). The discounts are shouldered by the
University.

Ranting for the sake of just ranting and going with the bandwagon so you may be "in", I should say, is so UNFAIR to the University;
more so to your professors who truthfully and honestly work hard so you may continue receiving your lessons while in the comfort of
your homes. I pray that you realize that a full-time professor handles at the least, 24 units equivalent to 8 classes. If say, a class is
composed of at least 50 students, the minimum number of students a full-time professor handles is 400. And you complain to have so
much "work" to do? So many to accomplish?
My dear students, you took up College for you to be able to land a good job after graduation. For some of you, your dream maybe, is
to make your own life ‘story’ different from what your family may be experiencing now.
This new experience is a test of your hard work, discipline, patience, and character. No good has ever come out without even an
ounce of sacrifice. We are in the same plight as yours. As much as we understand your concerns, please, pretty please… be kinder…
be more polite in the manner by which you raise your issues; show even a little respect to the hard work your professors put on every
lesson they give you, by being honest.
You are welcome at all times to send me a private message and I will make myself available to answer whatever queries you may have
for as long as it is within my capacity to address. Please refer also to May 20, 10:13 pm post.
Be safe, my dear students. May our good Lord bless you and keep you. May He let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
May our Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace.
See you next semester!
