REFLECTION PAPER

Defining Distance Learning and Distance Education

Distance learning is very new to me in the educational context. As a student, for now
experiencing this as the mode of learning being used in our institution, I can barely say that it is
so hard to adapt at the same time to adjust, but I do believe that it is just at the beginning that I
feel about giving up, in the long run perhaps I could adjust them.
This mode of learning is a way of continuing the education of our learners, despite of the
pandemic we are all experiencing right now. It is right to say that this learning mode might be
the best way to continue learning, but at the same a very big challenge to both teachers and
students. There are many factors need to be considered especially in times like this.
There are many options need to be chosen from about this distance learning but it all
involved the online platform. Currently, I am so confused about all of these things at the same
time feeling fuss. I am not against about distance education but I guess I am not ready for this
mode of learning. There are good things this learning could brought me and besides barriers also
that I need to overcome.
At the moment, I am struggling since I lived in the remote area where internet
connections and network connections are not so evident, it challenges me to do and find ways
and means just to go on with my studies.
I felt bad for myself for having this type of learning because I already thought of the
circumstances that might occur, unfortunately without understanding its main purpose and its
good intentions in the education aspect. For now, I just need to be more patient and
understanding regarding this important matter at the same time historic occurrence in the
Philippine education since it is new to many of us.
Moreover, I am thankful for those who authored this distance learning because my
learning will be continued. I am now accepting this mode of learning whole heartily with
acceptance because of this uncertainty we are facing today. I am also hesitant with the future
outcome with this mode of learning that it might helped or affect my future role in this
community but whatever it takes I will conquer it and make sure that I can be a contributing
factor for the betterment of the community as well as to the educational context.
Furthermore, distance learning meets my needs as a student that the face to face learning
is not viable at this moment due to this crisis. This learning is more flexible I can adjust my pace
when and where to work. Indeed, this mode of learning is a very great help to amidst the crisis in
education. I am hoping that this mode delivery of learning will accommodate my needs as a
student and will continue to be accessible despite of the threat of COVID-19 here in our locale.
With all of this anticipation of mine, I am looking forward to a better result that learning process
must go on and still individual learning matters than deadline matters.
