Please answer the following questions as relevantly and briefly as possible.

1. What motivated you to join SMILE? (100-125 Words)
I wanted to teach underprivileged and marginalized kids and assist in their holistic
development. I want to create awareness about the necessity of education for all. I
want to increase community outreach to maximize impact on society. Working in the
SMILE will give me a great sense of fulfilling social responsibility.
Much of my motivation to contribute to the educational system stemmed from the
behavior of my teachers. Some were rigid, but others were willing to accommodate my
needs and the needs of other students. With the latter, I could see the light at the end
of the tunnel, my latent potential to make it beyond school, and encourage kids in the
same way they helped me.

2. Which cell do you want to be part of? Choose as many as you want in the order of
preference
i. Academics
ii. Awareness & Community Outreach
iii. Extra-curriculars

3. How can you contribute to the cell of the club? (100-150 Words)

I will focus on providing education to underprivileged kids in society. I will help them in
realizing their full potential in academics as well in their personal life. I will also in
becoming financially self-supporting and self-reliant (through donations from crowd-
sourcing websites) so that they can help their families and community in return. I will try
to increase community outreach by enrolling more kids with SMILE center to pass on
the benefits. I will try to increase awareness activities of SMILE initiatives, both online
and offline. I will also try to focus on increasing involvement in extra-curricular activities
for children’s overall development.

4. Have you worked on any social initiative before? If yes, then please describe your
contribution, impact, and overall experience. (200-250 words)

Yes, I have worked on the social initiative before. I had volunteered to teach 100+
differently-abled children in the government school (K. M. S. Shirodkar School). I taught

5. Do you have any suggestions for new initiatives/ideas for the club? (100-125 Words)

I feel there is a need to introduce a credit course in the second year through which
second-year MBA students can mentor bright, underprivileged children from the
neighboring schools. Every student will get the opportunity to mentor one child for six
months. Through this MBA, students can learn mentoring and leadership skills,
understand urban poverty, challenges, and opportunities it offers to the business sector
and become socially aware, empathetic future managers. The one-to-one interaction
will help the underprivileged children develop bonds with the mentor, realize their full
potential, both in their work and personal lives, become financially self-supporting and
self-reliant so that they can help their family and community in return.
