Answer the following:

Q1) ‘All intellectual field are profoundly shaped by their social settings; this is particularly true of
sociology. Sociology’ has emerged as a necessary product of the conditions posed by
Enlightenment, Industrial revolution and French revolution (etc). Industrialization/ Industrial
revolution has made major changes in the structure of family that lead to problems and
disintegration in the societies and therefore required solutions. These solutions should not be
normative in their approach but need to take the concrete conditions of society into consideration’.

In this context justify the causal context (Industrial revolution and impact on family) of
emergence of sociology as a separate discipline and influence of positive approach/positivism
( on social thinkers) to solve the social problems by giving an example (only).

Q2) ‘The 19th century was clearly the "epoch" of sociological theory in that the great founding
fathers of the discipline laid the building blocks of various theoretical perspectives and conceptual
frameworks. The major contributions of founding fathers have influenced the social theorists of
20th and 21st century in continued development and enrichment of sociological theories. Max
Weber is the one of the important name that has influence the contemporary thinkers and
development of sociological perspectives’.
In this context illustrate the connections and influences of Max Weber’s conceptual work and
