SAQ 1-1Write True or False in the blank of each item. If the answer is false, pls. explain and
make it into a true statement. But if true kindly provide a little explanation also.

False 1. Knowledge derived from scientific investigation is final.


Knowledge derived from scientific investigation is tentative because it is open for further
question or scrutiny from other researchers or academics.

True 2. It is all right to criticize the method and results of scientific investigation.
Knowledge derived from scientific investigation is shared and communicated to public and thus
never final. It shall be open to scrutiny and further investigation to validate the argument of the
other researchers interested in the similar subject.

False 3. A researcher who is not comfortable with his/her investigation does not share the
findings of the study. This researcher’s investigation can still be considered a contribution to the
fund of knowledge as it is derived from a scientific process.
The findings in the research that are not shared or communicated in the public do not contribute
to the fund of knowledge even if it is not derived from a scientific process.

True 4. Not all questions can be considered a springboard for scientific investigation.
Some inquiry on intuition, tradition and religion cannot be answered by a scientific investigation
because scientific investigations are based on the empirically verifiable realm which can be
validated through observation.

False 5. A researcher who makes a recommendation to decision makers based on the


findings of the study violates the principle of ethical neutrality.
The recommendations made to decision makers do not violate the principle of ethical neutrality
if the recommendation is based on the results of the scientific investigation except if the
research process is tainted by the personal preferences of the researcher.
