Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Piktochart allows students to create their own presentation, inforgraphic, posters, reports, or flyers in any
subject of their choosing. They can pick which way they want to present their data and find fun colors, fonts
and pictures from a wide variety of options. They can create very simple one-page lessons or many paged
lessons. The great thing about this web-based tool is that everything is up to the student and how they want
their information to look.
Lesson idea implementation:
In this Piktochart lesson, I will give students the opportunity to pick how they present their information to me.
Each student will draw their content area out of a jar to determine what they will present to me. All of these
lessons will be from the GA standards for math under “perform operations on matrices and use matrices in
applications” section. The students will learn how to use Piktochart during class and may ask questions for
clarification. The teacher has taught each lesson in the jar; the students must show what they learned by
creating their Piktochart. The project will be introduced as a class assignment to complete during class time
only and the students must present their Piktochart to everyone. The students will be given one full class
period to complete since the assignment should not take long to prepare. The students will be assessed on
how accurate their information is, how they present the Piktochart in front of class and if they made the
project fun and interesting.
Each Piktochart will be uploaded to the site where students access their school information and may use each
student’s presentations to study. Students will learn at a higher level by being creative in their work,
mastering the task they are presenting and teaching the topics to every student in the class. The students will
get feedback on their original presentation Piktocharts and emailed to them for further studying and
correction.
Reflective Practice:
I believe the students will have fun with the assignment and be able to find new ways to study by finding
other web-based learning/creation tools. The best way for anyone to learn is by teaching the content to
someone else, so by having my students teach their peers their chosen content area, they will learn the

material even better. To further my lesson, I could have students research a different web-based productivity
tool and bring it to me the next class period. I could also have student’s pair up with everyone who had the
same lesson and collaborate to make a Piktochart of all their lessons combined. To enhance their technology
skills, I could use Kahoot to test their knowledge on the presented material. Students can compete to win
some candy or a free homework pass if they come in first place.
