Injector Leak-Off Test Instructions

1. Ensure the engine is shut down and gain access to the Injector leak back pipe as shown in figure
A.
2. Remove the pipe from the connection on the cylinder head and cap the pipe off, using a suitable
set-up as shown for example in figure B.
3. Tighten the hose clip onto the pipe.
4. Place a clean suitable tube onto the connection on the cylinder head into a clean fuel resistant
measuring container.
5. Disconnect the 3 injector wiring looms plugs on the Cylinder Top Cover (Figure C) to disable
the engine from starting.

6. Set ET service tool up to perform a data log of the following parameter: -
Data Logging Channels
240 samples/minute

Active Diagnostic Codes Present

Atmospheric Pressure
Battery Voltage
Delivered Fuel Volume
Desired Engine Speed
Desired Fuel Rail Pressure

7. Start the data log and crank the engine with the starter motor for 30 seconds continuous.
8. End the data logger.
9. Record the amount of fuel (if any) that has been collected into the measuring container from the
leak-off connection on the cylinder head.
10. If there is more than 50ml for the 30-second crank, then the injectors have got high
injector leak-off. If the leak-off is less than 50ml for the 30-second crank then contact the
DSN with all the details and attach the data log along with the leak-off measurement
reading.
11. Test finished
Replace the pipe back onto the cylinder head connection and replace the 3 injector wiring loom
plugs (Figure C)
