Why d id you enter the teaching profession?

Perhaps you were inspired by an incredible teacher

and wanted to make that same kind of positive impact on others. It may be that the reverse is true
for you. I have talked with many teachers who had pretty rough experiences in school themselves
and are committed to creating a more positive learning experience for children. You may be a
career changer; you found yourself in a job or profession that did not seem meaningful, and you
were looking for a way to make a broader impact on society. Like me, you may have simply
discovered an aptitude for working with children and felt called to the profession, developing a
sense of purpose and meaning along the way.

One of our most fundamental human needs is to have a sense of significance (Maslow, 1943). We
need to know that our work is important and that we are having a positive influence on others,

. Having purpose in life is one of the things that help keep us going. When we feel the work we do
has purpose beyond ourselves and that we are contributing to the greater good, we stay
motivated and passionate about our work.

We in the educational community are pretty lucky. Teaching is widely regarded as one of
the professions that has great purpose.

So guys I want you to examine some aspects of your chosen career that relate to our
sense of significance and explore them in depth.

huge emphasis on what we do for a living determine our value as people, we proudly say,
"I am a teacher."

Good teachers come to school and teach students who learn a little. Great teachers have
clear goals and a big vision for students to learn and achieve not just today but in the
future

But I found an even stronger consensus that success in school is just a beginning.
. Workers in many different professions—architects, bankers, coaches, stay-at-home parents—asserted
that success in life depends on having a high “emotional intelligence quotient,” also called EQ, meaning
strong knowledge of oneself and the ability to work effectively . Personal courage,
here are a few that touched me. Success is
 The capacity to face the unknown with confidence.
 All the little things a person does every day that provide personal growth and
satisfaction and give others joy.
 The courage to go against the norm.
 Being satisfied with who you are and what you have done in life.
 A connection to something larger than yourself.
 A life free from poverty and debt.
Education is the soul of success. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., ‘The function of education is to teach
one to think intensively and to think critically

Traditional ideas of success rely on having money or property.

But modern times have brought about a shift in perspective. The conventional meaning or vision of
success has changed.
At the end of the day it all boils down to how you define success and the positive outlook you have in
achieving your own triumphs in life – and how hard you’re willing to work to earn it.
