Properties of Addition
1. Answer in the addition is called the sum.

2. When you change the order of the numbers while adding, the sum does not change.

Ex: 421+325 = 746; 325+421= 746

3. When you add 1 to a number the sum is the number that comes after the given number.

Ex: 599+1=600

4. The sum of zero and any number is the same number.

Ex: 934+0=934

5. The numbers which you are adding are called addends.

Ex: 12+ 3= 15

12 and 3 are called addends, while 15 is the sum.

Examples by using the properties of addition

a. 32+ 13 = 45 ; 13+ 32 = 45
b. 68+ 0 = 68

c. 324+ 1 = 325
