DRY MEDIA

- includes charcoal, graphite, chalks and pastels. Each of these mediums


gives the artist a wide range of mark making capabilities and effects, from
thin lines to large areas of color and tone. The artist can manipulate a
drawing to achieve desired effects in many ways, including exerting
different pressures on the medium against the drawing’s surface, or by
erasure, blotting or rubbing.

1.) Charcoal

This art conveys a sense of stability. The shape of the artwork


conveys a sense of movement since the elements of the composition are
unbalanced. In this art the rock mimics the movement of the water flowing
in an ordered fashion down the river.

2.) Graphite

This artwork uses emphasis to direct the viewer’s eyes to the particular
object the artist wants us to see. Our attention is immediately drawn to the soldier
and the map of the USA.

3.) Pastel

In this artwork, the central figure stands out due to his relative size and
position above the other figures. The diagonal lines of the contorting bodies lead
the viewer’s eye to the figure, further emphasizing him and conveying the
intensity of his struggle against the person on her left.

WET MEDIA

- traditionally refers to ink but really includes any substance that can be put into
solution and applied to a drawing's surface.

1.) Painting
In this image, the sizes of all the elements are combined harmoniously. In
this image, all of the proportions appear exactly as one would expect. And also
there is unity because there is a large areas of contrasting textures, patterns and
colors that create a sense of balance and unity within the composition.
