Reflection:
Having this kind of course orientation give myself a little break for a
while. ..
Making me realized that great effort must be possess this time around. And
working with these modules reflects us on having a “bayanihan” system
especially on making the self-learning modules for our learners. This also
equip me on being a kind of a teacher, promoting good and quality
education bringing it out to the best of our learners.
I know we can surpass this pandemic, and I know everything will be turn
out all in a new normal way. In God’s time 😊 -TIA
LESSON 1: COURSE OVERVIEW

ACTIVITY 1
Read the LDM Course Overview. Reflect on the overview by answering the
following questions. Write down your insights in your Study Notebook.

1. What is the main delivery of this course?

Since the pandemic is ongoing the Department of Education adheres to different platforms in
order to attain the needs to deliver quality education to our learners. The main delivery of this
course is a task-oriented course; especially for us teachers to give continuous learning education
despite this trying time amidst COVID-19.
The new normal settings that the Department of Education are promoting today gives meaning to
life, a new hope for each one of us for tomorrow’s journey. Preparing the Self Learning Modules
were a great challenge to all educators but behind the hardships of crafting the modules still we
sacrifice and put effort to it in order to meet our goals for giving out the best for our learners.
So this course is very important, not to ourselves alone but for the future of our learners. Let’s
keep our mind into positivity because in the end it will give us prosperity and great achievement
because we do it for them to instill knowledge and skills for our students in spite this pandemic.
2. 2. How can this course help ensure that you will be able to deliver quality instruction in the
“new normal”?
The word “new normal” sounds hopeful and with a great perseverance. From August 24 to
October 5, as it changes the opening of classes gives our Administrator a hard time of deciding
whether to pursue the opening of class here in the Philippines. That’s why with the team of the
Department of Education they really find ways in order to continue the education here in the
Philippines.
To this course it ensures the delivery of quality education to its new normal way. Many platforms
were introduced to the teachers, as well blended modular way of learning, and some adapting to
the modernized world; through online class.
It also challenges as what would be the outcome for this “new normal” delivering the quality of
instruction where many students/pupils are asking what would be the outcome for this academic
year. This course gives us the idea on lifting the situation of the learners that is why teachers
called to have mission to give what is best for our learners. It may not all through the time we will
be engaging them through online class but the DepED still have another program to those learners
who are living in the hinder lands; where internet connectivity is nowhere to be found.
This course really helps the teachers to do more, learn more, do more skills, and prepare
themselves to whatever possibilities. That even to those who are less fortunate learners may bring
to them what are education is and to teach them what are the necessary in this new teaching and
learning process.
3. What are the two support mechanisms that will help you with your learning in this course?

The two-support mechanism that can help me with this course are:

 FIRST, I really feel scared, because I am a neophyte employee in the Department of

Education. But this makes me brave enough to give myself a support in continuing to
learn this course is for the reason that “I LOVE TO TEACH OUR LEARNERS”.
This point of view really makes me weak in such a way that I encounter some less
fortunate one in my workstation. Wherein I ask myself if we will not continue to
reach out on giving the learning delivery modules, then what will happen to these
kinds of people living far flung area from the city?
Through webinars, helps me to attain some of my goals on reaching out for my students
specially to my class advisory in Grade 12. I have to help them realizing and making their
dreams came true. Letting them achieve their ambitions in life, helps me understand their
way of living that even up to this kind of time they must be given quality education, despite
the pros and cons,
 SECOND, is I really prayed for them, through the guidance of our Almighty Father it
all runs smoothly of what we are preparing of today. And of course, to my co-
teacher, for their constant communication it also helps me bring out what are some
solutions to all my queries since I am so young to this field of work in DepEd.

ACTIVITY 2
Answer the following questions by copying and filling out the table in your Study Notebook.

1. How will my personal characteristics and circumstances affect (positively or negatively) my

participation in this course?

My personal characteristics on learning this module is being persistent and to have

commitment to adapt the new normal way of delivering instructions to our learners. It also
helps me where and how to begin in achieving my goals towards my mission in applying in
order to have a successful implementation of the new normal education for our learners.
2. How can I ensure that I am able to sustain my strengths and address the obstacles that will
hinder me from completing this course?

 At first when the LDM2 being introduce to us through webinars I had this fears
inside of me on what would be the next thing to do after the orientation. It seems the
word “AFRAID” blocking at all times to my mind but when the LDM2 started to
have group activity this time I prepare myself not to fear nor scared anymore.
Through this emotion I set myself to be optimistic and the eagerness to learn through
this course. Instilling and conquering my fears to face another challenge of being a
teacher. I also ask myself if I can accomplish this course. And I know I need to. With
the help of our group 9 because two heads are better than one. And for being thankful
for having another additional knowledge that I learned this time.

We must always think positive in order to achieve what are our goals to this course.

LESSON 2: ORGANIZING YOUR LEARNING
ACTION CELL (LAC)

ACTIVITY 1
Begin by refreshing your memory on the Learning Action Cell. Read DepEd Order No. 35 s.
2016 titled “The Learning Action Cell as the K to 12 Basic Education Program School Based
Continuing Professional Development Strategy for the Improvement of Teaching and
Learning.” Once you’re done, answer the following questions. Write your responses and
any other ideas and reflections in your Study Notebook.

1. Reflect on the objectives for conducting LAC s essions as listed in DO 35, s. 2016.
Rank the following objectives from easiest to the most difficult to achieve:
_ To improve the teaching-learning process to improve learning among students
_ To nurture successful teachers
_To enable teachers to support each other to continuously improve their content and
pedagogical knowledge, practice, skills, and attitudes
_ To foster a professional collaborative spirit among School Heads, teachers, and the
community as a whole
For me based on the given objectives above for conducting LAC sessions is:
1ST -TO ENABLE TEACHERS TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER
CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE THEIR CONTENT AND PEDAGOGICAL
KNOWLEDGE, PRACTICE, SKILLS AND ATTITUDES.
I rank this objective as the difficult objective in conducting LAC session because
based on the principle of lifelong learning and the view of the teaching profession as
one that “requires teachers’ expert knowledge and specialized skills, acquired and
maintained through rigorous and continuing study. Although we have our innate gifts
and talents but there were some teachers find it hard to adapt the new way of teaching
especially the older ones. Now that we are already living in modernized world
wherein technology is opt to use then they are need to have this orientation, and
seminar workshops in order for them to be familiarize to the modern way of teaching.
I am not telling that they are not a good teacher but since we are facing the new
normal way of giving learning modules there are a big adjustment for them, learning

a new way.
NURTURE SUCCESSFUL TEACHERS
For me this will be the second to be rank as one of the difficult objectives in
conducting LAC session. According to DepEd Order No. 35, s. 2016 that a
successful teaching is a result of the systematic use of appropriate strategies
for delivering and assessing the learning objectives targeted for each lesson.
This will be hard to attain in every teacher on attaining the learning
competencies of each subjects because there are some learners that cannot
achieve or attain what is being taught per subject or lesson. This will add a
hard time or burden especially in assessing the level of knowledge that the
student has possess. Through this it must be discuss thoroughly during LAC
session and find solutions to this kind of matter.
3RD -TO IMPROVE THE TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS TO IMPROVE LEARNING
AMONG STUDENTS

“Different methods of teacher professional development are implemented

throughout the DepEd to improve teaching-learning processes. However, most of these
are top-down processes wherein expert knowledge is shared or
transferred. Examples of these are lectures or workshops during cascaded or echoed
teacher training and short-term courses. Other top-down training
programs are done over time such as scholarships, and distance learning
programs.” -DepEd Order NO. 35, s. 2016. It is well explained through the memorandum
that during the LAC session discussing the different way of teaching strategies will help
the students to learn and understand more. And also, the teachers are trained to develop
more their skills in giving their best to their students. Improving the teaching-learning
process may really improve one’s own ability especially if the teacher will adapt to
changes in every learning styles of the learners.

4TH -TO FOSTER A PROFESSIONAL COLLABORATIVE SPIRIT AMONG SCHOOL HEADS, TEACHERS,
AND THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE

According to the DepEd Order No. 35, s. 2016 that “Though existing in some schools or
divisions in the DepEd, there are fewer instances of bottom-up teacher professional
development programs where colleagues study content and pedagogies together, plan
lessons collaboratively, and conduct action research as a group”
In order to achieve the mission and vision of the school together with the school heads and
the community as a whole will do hand in hand in implanting the norms of the schools in
uplifting and encouraging everybody to have collaboration and good camaraderie of the
stakeholders. This will be easier way to give agenda to the parents as well for the benefit of
their children.

v
3. What are the top three challenges to having a successful LAC? List down and elaborate.

TOP 2 For me Scheduling a meeting to have a LAC session is easy to

prepare. However, there are some instances that challenges the LAC
session is either there is an emergency meeting; a faculty meeting,
another intervention that the schedule for LAC session was been
moved. Since it states in the memorandum that: “The LAC
members can decide on the schedule, length, and frequency of
meetings. One to two hours a week is strongly recommended but
the diversity of teaching conditions may not always allow this.
LAC sessions, however, should be conducted at least once a
month.” This challenge us teachers to be prompt on meeting the
schedule intended for the LAC session because that is the time
wherein the development of teacher’s potential aimed towards their
success in the profession, and this can be done through the school-
based LAC, which primarily functions as a professional learning
community for teachers that will help them improve practice and
learner achievement.
The 2nd Top three challenges to have a successful LAC is the LAC
TOP 2 Implementation Norms. In Annex 2 No. 17.8 it beckons under the
Decision Making that: “How will we arrive at a decision? What if
everyone doesn’t agree with the group decision?”. This question is
quite difficult to administer if one of your colleagues doesn’t agree
to your topic or to your decision. It takes time for you to convince
that certain person in order for you to achieve a successful LAC
session. Decision to the entire team or group in a wholeness of the
entire faculty is very important and also the agreement that your
topic will end successfully.

Prioritization of Topics or Agenda. From the needs that have been

TOP 3
identified as focus of LAC, members could agree on which of them
should be prioritized for their sessions. So that the decision making
will also be meet according to the topic being discussed by the
leader. The topic is very important, and must be agreed by all the
group members and it must also an interesting topic so that it will
become a successful LAC session. Although there are some topics
that is difficult to present but it must be given an ample of time to do
more research of the said topic. And to study more on it.
