In summary, the monitoring and recording were using NADA multichannel by connecting
the analyzer onto BNC output of online vibration rack (Delta Electronica). There are a
total of eight (7) bearings that have been measured and two (2) key phasor probes to
capture the speed of GG shaft and PT shaft. All the readings of these bearing were taken
in only one direction which is vertical. In this report the unit will be abbreviated by gas
generator (GG), power turbine (PT) and Generator (GEN). The bearings on each units are;
1) Bearing 1 GG
2) Bearing 2 GG
3) Bearing 3 PT
4) Bearing 4 PT
5) Bearing 5 Gearbox
6) Bearing 6 GEN DE
7) Bearing 7 GEN NDE
AFCM Team managed to complete the task in collecting and recording the data in two (2)
days. With the help from Lotte Chemical Titan maintenance and operation team, the task
successfully carried out.
The focus in this report is on Bearing 2 GG as the vibration reading of the other bearings
were found low during the whole duration of the vibration measurement were recorded.
The first condition to monitor was during the coast down. The coast down commissioned at
2200 Hours where Lotte Chemical Titan team first increase the load by 0.5 MW to see if
there is any spike occur then reduced the load to 0 MW. The unit was at full speed of 9822
RPM at load of 19.5 MW. The spike occurred at 5773 RPM with the overall vibration value
was 4.89 mm/s.
The start-up of the unit GT 11 commissioned at 1600 hours with the 1 st attempt failed. The
1st attempt failed was due to pilot flame not reaching 100% and caused the unit to trip. On
the 3rd attempt, pilot flame finally achieved 100% however another error occurred which

was the exhaust temperature exceeds the limit of 600 0
C. The unit GT 11 finally
successfully start-up at attempt 20 after some adjustments have been made.
The first 1st spike with highest overall vibration value occurred during the start-up of the
unit GT 11 at 6339 RPM on Bearing 2 GG with the value of 6.15 mm/s RMS. It took around 5
minutes for the spike to form as the vibration reading gradually increase from 1.5 mm/s to
reach the highest value of 6.15 mm/s. According to Lotte Chemical Titan team, this
condition is normal due to synchronization condition of GT 11.
The second 2nd spike occurred at 8852 RPM with the overall vibration value was 4.76 mm/s
RMS also at Bearing 2 GG. Same as the 1 st spike, this also took around 4 minutes to form
the spike as the vibration gradually increase to reach 4.76 mm/s. This condition occurred
as the load was increased from 0 MW to 3 MW.

PRELIMINARY REPORT OF VIBRATION READING FOR
GAS TURBINE 11 AT COGEN 2 LOTTE CHEMICAL TITAN
1. INTRODUCTION
This preliminary report is intended to compile the result and findings on unit GT 11 at
COGEN 2 LOTTE CHEMICAL TITAN, Tg. Langsat which following the ISO standards 10816-4.
AFCM team was responsible to execute this task using NADA multichannel by connecting
onto the BNC output of online vibration rack (Delta Electronica) in order to monitor and
record necessary findings as the main problem which is the spike during increase of load.
The setup for online vibration monitoring system is using charge mode accelerometer from
Bruel and Kjaer with sensitivity of 10pC/ms-2.
2. PURPOSE
The objective of this recent visit is to continuously monitor the unit for searching the
cause of vibration sudden increase at two conditions coast down and start-up.
3. OBJECTIVE
The objective of the task is to monitor and record the measurement of vibration of unit GT
11 on seven (7) bearings, two (2) bearings on GG, two (2) bearings on PT, one (1) bearing
on Gearbox and two (2) bearings on GEN. This is to find if there is any spike occur during
increasing of load of the unit GT 11.
