1. SCOPE OF WORK
According to the agreement between Alpha NDT and Cuu Long JOC, contract no: CLJOC-
2017-DEV-1821, Alpha NDT would take in charge of performing remote field eddy current
testing to evaluate the level of corrosion for specified tubes on heat exchanger equipment
during LGC. A 8K maintenance at Su Tu Vang – CPP

5. OBSERVATION/CONCLUSION
 Out of 150 tubes, 116 tubes were inspected as per client requirement to cover at least
50% from overall tube from this time
 All inspected tubes are generally in satisfactory condition, none of the tube was detected
to have external and internal corrosion and fit for further services

APPENDIX 1: INTRODUCTION OF RFECT, EQUIPMENT SYSTEM USED &


CALIBRATION RECORD

INTRODUCTION OF RFECT
RFECT is an electromagnetic method of nondestructive testing. Main application of RFECT in
our system is to find internal and external defects walls thinning of carbon steel or
ferromagnetic material tubing in general. This method offers good sensitivity when detecting
and measuring volumetric defects resulting from erosion, corrosion and wear

RFECT is a through-wall transmission technique where the magnetic field travels through the
tube wall twice; once at the exciter location and once at the receiver location. Any defect
located at the exciter or receiver location and once at the receiver location. The receiver-coil
measurements correspond to the total material thickness that the magnetic field has gone
through

The receiver coils sense a signal that has undergone a phase lag (a time delay) and an
attenuation. The phase lag (ϕ) is proportional to the thickness of the tube (d), the magnetic
permeability of the tube. The strength of the magnetic field (B) decreases exponentially as the
thickness of the tube (d) increases

The advantage of RFECT method


 Suitable for ferromagnetic material which is limitation of conventional eddy current when
inspecting in this type of material
 Highly sensitive to variations in wall thickness

The limitation of RFECT method


 Our system are not able to cover detectability of area at bend tube
