Understanding About the Company

Based on the facts I read on NEPC’s Website, China Energy Engineering Group
Northeast No.1 Electric Power Construction CO., Ltd as wholly- owned subsidiary is a
well-known player in China’s electric power construction industry. The companies
headquarter is in Shenyang City of Liaoning province and have three regional companies
in the Philippines, Bangladesh, Iraq. NEPC employs 4500 staff including 2100
engineering technician and administrators
NEPC can undertake international electric power project on EPC and BOT Basis.
The company also passed several certification and accreditation including ISO quality
Management system, environment management system, occupation safety and health
system authentication certificates and ASME standard accreditation certifications

What I do last Week

On my first week in the company, the first thing I do is to familiarize myself with the
office and socialize with my colleagues and supervisors. My first task is mainly getting a
quotation of equipment and construction materials that will be needed in the projects
located in Batangas and Cebu. The task is to find several suppliers and get the unit price
of the listed items and ask for the transportation fees and any other mobilization charges.
We also went to a daycare center in Cavite to give Toys and Umbrellas to the children as
part of the company’s social responsibility. I also study the nature of the business of
NEPC and its history thru reading the contents of its website.
 What I want to learn while working in this company
Since the company deals with the engineering, procurement and construction of power
generation plants, I want to learn the technical components of its structure. We don’t have
enough expertise with this line of business here in the Philippines, so it was a great
opportunity for me to learn new things. I want to learn how the procurement works here
and since it requires different set of materials, equipment and technology, I want to
familiarize myself with these new items. I also have an experience in site supervision so i
want to be deployed in one of our project sites and see it to myself how the company
implements the different construction plans.

My Expectation on Working in China

I have a big expectation working in China because I believe that Chinese are a highly
competitive society whether in the classroom or in business area. Working in that kind of
environment would be beneficial for me because as a young professional I have the
eagerness to learn new things and explore my capabilities. Working in china will teach
me a world class knowledge that will help me grow as an individual and as a civil
engineer. It was always my dream to work abroad because I want to go out my comfort
zone and test myself to achieve my goal which is to be a successful individual. Working
in China will improve my adaptability, flexibility and my communication skills. The
chance to work with a diverse set of people to achieve common goals will help improve
my team-working skills. I’m also excited to learn Chinese culture, I want to meet people
and experience the way of living and visits places that will make me understand how
Chinese people do in their daily lives.
