1. What do you think are the effects on the education of the gradeschool learners of the
suggested on-line teaching due to the presence of the covid-19 pandemic that the
country is facing today?

Basically, online teachings as an alternative delivery mode of instruction

have pros and cons that we must have to consider. This online teaching modality
advantages includes (1) reduction in costs like fewer classroom, instructors and
spent in commuting which lesser money will be spent; (2) Students can set their
own pace of learning; and (3) this is very beneficial for the teacher to work within
a larger groups as well; lastly, (4) it is more engaging than traditional learning
while having fun.

On the other hand, its disadvantages will be (1) lack of motivation, as

teachers need to consider the preparation of learning methods and materials that
will work best for the students; (2) learners need to have basic knowledge on
how to navigate the tools of this online learning modality, however, not everyone
is knowledgeable with this since most of them are situated in rural areas or
remote places; (3) lack of the availability of learning materials since the poorest
of the poor do not have their own computers; and lastly, it is said to be prone to
credibility and plagiarism problem.

However, for me there are more important aspects that we should have to
consider aside from determining the pros and cons of this online teaching
modality, which is the importance of holistic development of a child. I believe that
gradeschool level is the foundation years of the child’s holistic development,
hence, online modality plays an important role to it by ensuring educational
continuity amidst the COVID-19 situation.

Therefore, I conclude that this alternative delivery mode of instruction –

online teaching is generally not as effective as face-to-face/ in-person in a
classroom with the traditional activities, but they are certainly better than no
classes. With this, it can help student to learn continuously rather than learn less
when they are at home. Furthermore, online modalities have dramatically
changed the teaching and learning processes from the traditional setting. It is
sometimes synchronous or non-synchronous. With this, it allows students to
access lessons and exercises as well as interacts with teachers in ways that is
suitable during these trying times.
2. As an educator/teacher, which do you believe more effective, the a) traditional
method of teaching or 2) on-line teaching? Why? Justify your answer.

In this time of crisis, I witnessed the importance of online learning platform in

ensuring educational continuity amidst the COVID-19 situation. I think it is certainly
better than no classes on these trying times. This online modality can also provide an
enhance student’s learning experience than traditional setting and it also beneficial for
teachers and children. Both traditional method and online learning platform have
advantage and disadvantages. However, I think traditional method of teaching is more
crucial and effective to grade school as the foundation years and high school level than
this alternative delivery mode of learning, online setting.

Moreover, I believe that traditional teaching method and setting plays an important
role for the holistic growth and development among the students, whereas students can
actively take part in the classroom activities which is very essential for their cognitive,
affective and psychomotor domain. It also promotes collaboration and communication
between students and teachers to boosting up socialization. This traditional method of
teaching also is an active mode of learning, accessible and interactive, which are the
most prominent features of traditional education.

However, traditional classroom education has been accessible for all members of
society for over a century. This form of education has lots of advantages and it also
continues to be an essential way of learning. Inside the classroom, students learn
quickly, but this time of crisis, online setting will do. Therefore, I conclude that both of
these teaching method are the essential way to ensure educational continuity in
different situation and cases, but both is perfect to combined as what we call “Blended
learning”.

3. As a Filipino citizen, give your stand on the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of
the government.

I personally believe as a Filipino citizen that this Social Amelioration Program

(SAP) by the Philippine government is very helpful especially for the poorest of the
poor. This pandemic COVID-19 really affects widely on the economic, physical, and
psychosocial well-being of residents in most of the country.

As this program serve as a cash emergency subsidy program (ESP) for 18

million Filipino families whose lives are greatly affected by the ECQ due to this
pandemic diseases, I think it is important for us Filipinos to have a National
Identification (ID) in order to distribute the money fairly and instantly to the right
people and will serve as a deterrent to corruption and any fraud or illegal concerns.
