The document discusses development as freedom and identifies five types of freedom that lead to development: political freedom, economic facilities, social opportunities, transparency guarantees, and protective security. It provides examples of each type of freedom. It argues that giving individuals these freedoms allows them to develop. As a social worker, encouraging communities to express themselves by speaking and discovering things gives them freedom and develops them individually and socially. In conclusion, freedom is essential for both societal and individual development, as it allows people to discover more, experience new things, find solutions, and learn from failures.

Development can be seen as a process of expanding the freedoms that
people enjoy and if freedom is what development is about, then it makes sense to concentrate on that rather than on some of the means or instruments of achieving it. If we talk about freedom and development, it was obvious that this topic is broad since there are so many kinds of freedom that leads to development. There are five (5) distinct types of freedom; 1. Political Freedom- this includes civil right; we all know that we have a freedom of political expressions, we have all the rights and freedom to choose who we would want to govern in our country. We also have the freedom to criticize and scrutinize authorities. 2. Economic facilities- people have a freedom or opts to utilize economic resources for the purpose of consumption or production or exchange. 3. Social opportunities- this means that people will have a freedom to avail the opportunities in education, health care, etc.; to help them live better. 4. Transparency guarantees- the openness that people can expect when dealing with one another protective security. 5. Protective Security- to prevent people on the verge of vulnerability from succumbing to deprivation. The above mentioned freedom, if it given to us individuals, we can really see the development in it. For freedom is very essential to development. As a social worker, I can cite an example not in a broad definition of it but it’s in a narrow way. First, our mission is to empower the community and for us to deliver/ accomplished this mission, we have to encourage them to speak and discover things. So by encouraging, we are giving them the freedom and the right to express themselves; and by expressing themselves is a development not just for us but also for them individually. Therefore, I conclude how important a freedom is, in order to obtain the development not just in our society but also to us individuals because this must start in our own self. We cannot move or we cannot stay dependent to others but by acquiring freedom, we can discover more, by experience new things, doing things we don’t do before, finding a solutions in every problems and challenges and learning in every failure and finally if we surpassed all this, this must be a total development.
