Annual Haircut Day

 It was the Annual Haircut
Day for Gompo.
 མགོན་པོ་ལ་མཚོན་ན། དེ་རིང་ནི་ལོ་རེའི་སྐྲ་གཞར་གྱི་

ཉིན་མོ་རེད།

 Gompo left home as
usual to go to the local
barbershop.
 རྒྱན་ལྡན་ལྟར། མགོན་པོ་རང་གི་ནང་ནས་ཐོན་ཏེ། ས་གནས་

ཀྱི་སྐྲ་གཞར་ཁང་ལ་སོང་།

 But the barber said, “Today, I have no time to cut
such long hair!”
 ཡིན་ན་ཡང་། སྐྲ་གཞར་བས། “དེ་རིང་ང་ལ་འདི་འདྲའི་སྐྲ་

རིང་པོ་གཞར་བའི་དུས་ཚོད་མེད།” ཅེས་བཤད།

 Feeling sad, Gompo went back home to
ask his wife for help.
 སེམས་སྐྱོ་བཞིན། མགོན་པོ་ནང་ལ་ལོག་སྟེ། རང་གི་ཆུང་མ་

ལ་རོགས་བྱེད་པའི་རེ་བ་བཤད།

 But his wife said,
“Today, I have no
time to cut such long
hair!”
 ཡིན་ན་ཡང་། ཁོའི་ཆུང་མས། “དེ་རིང་ང་ལ་འདི་འདྲའི་སྐྲ་

རིང་པོ་གཞར་བའི་དུས་ཚོད་མེད།” ཅེས་བཤད།

 Feeling a little angry,
Gompo went to his
friend, the tailor.
 ཁོང་ཁྲོ་ཅུང་ཙམ་ལང་བཞིན། མགོན་པོ་རང་གི་གྲོགས་པོ་

ཚེམ་བཟོ་བའི་གམ་དུ་སོང་།

 But the tailor said,
“Today, I have no
time to cut such long
hair!”
 ཡིན་ན་ཡང་། ཚེམ་བཟོ་བས། “དེ་རིང་ང་ལ་འདི་འདྲའི་སྐྲ་

རིང་པོ་གཞར་བའི་དུས་ཚོད་མེད།” ཅེས་བཤད།

 Now a little worried, Gompo went to
one more friend, the carpenter.
 ད་ནི་སེམས་ཁྲལ་ཅུང་ཙམ་ལང་བཞིན། མགོན་པོ་ད་དུང་

རང་གི་གྲོགས་པོ་ཤིང་བཟོ་བའི་གམ་དུ་སོང་།

 But the carpenter said,
“Today, I have no time to
cut such long hair!”
 ཡིན་ན་ཡང་། ཤིང་བཟོ་བས། “དེ་རིང་ང་ལ་འདི་འདྲའི་སྐྲ་

རིང་པོ་གཞར་བའི་དུས་ཚོད་མེད།” ཅེས་བཤད།

 Poor Gompo. It
seemed no one
would cut his hair
on this Annual
Haircut Day.
 མགོན་པོ་ལ་བལྟས་ན་ཡ་ང་བ་ཞིག་རེད། ལོ་རེའི་སྐྲ་གཞར་

གྱི་ཉིན་མོ་འདི་ལ། ཁོའི་སྐྲ་བཞར་མཁན་གཅིག་ཀྱང་མེད་

པར་སྣང་།

 In tears, he walked off by himself past
the village forest.
 ངུ་བཞིན། མགོན་པོ་ཁེར་རྐྱང་དུ་སྡེ་འདབས་ཀྱི་ནགས་ཚལ་

བརྒྱུད་ནས་སོང་།

He sat near a cave and cried loudly.
 མགོན་པོ་བྲག་ཕུག་ཅིག་གི་འགྲམ་དུ་བསྡད་ནས་སྐད་ཆེན་

པོས་ངུས།

 “The day is nearly
over. How can I keep
my promise to cut my
hair? Oh God, help
me!”
 “དེ་རིང་གི་ཉི་མ་རྫོགས་ལ་ཉེ་ཞིང་། ངས་རང་གི་སྐྲ་བཞར་

རྒྱུ་ཡིན་པའི་དམ་བཅའ་དེ་ཇི་ལྟར་སྲུང་དགོས་སམ། དཀོན་

མཆོག་གིས་མཁྱེན། ང་ལ་མགོན་སྐྱབས་མཛོད།”

 The tiger sleeping peacefully inside the
cave was very disturbed by all the noise.
 ཀླག་ཅོར་འདི་ཡིས། བྲག་ཕུག་གི་ནང་དུ་ཞི་བདེའི་ངང་

གཉིད་བཞིན་པའི་སྟག་ལ་བར་ཆད་ཆེན་པོ་བྱས་ཏེ། སྟག་

ཤིན་ཏུ་ཁྲོས།

 He came out, roaring,
waving his giant paws
at Gompo.
 སྟག་གིས་ང་རོ་སྒྲོག་བཞིན། རང་གི་སྡེར་མོ་ཆེན་པོ་གཉིས་

མགོན་པོ་ལ་ཁ་གཏོད་བཞིན། བྲག་ཕུག་གི་ཕྱི་ལ་ཡོང་།

 Poor Gompo was so
scared, so scared, so scared
that ...
 ཡ་ང་བའི་མགོན་པོ་ནི། ཧ་ཅང་ཧ་ཅང་སྐྲག་སྟེ། ཧ་ཅང་ཧ་

ཅང་སྐྲག་སྟེ་་་།

 ... all the hair fell off his
head!
་་་མགོ་ཡི་སྐྲ་ཚང་མ་ལྷུང་སོང་།

 Gompo ran all the way back to the village.
The tiger went back to sleep.
 མགོན་པོ་རྒྱུགས་ནས་ཕྱིར་སྡེ་བའི་ནང་ལ་བྲོས། སྟག་ཕྱིར་

གཉིད་ཁུག་ཏུ་སོང་།

 Now, Gompo will
not need a haircut for a
very long time.
 ད་ནས་བཟུང་། མགོན་པོའི་སྐྲ་ནི། དུས་ཡུན་ཧ་ཅང་རིང་

པོ་ཞིག་ལ་བཞར་མི་དགོས།
