First, I had to clarify what I wanted to do for this photo. This I did through
timed "more" proposition questioning to get at areas outside of the area of
C1 - Clarify familiarity and into the area of discovery. I had to silence my VOJ In every
timed sprint I did.
C1 - Clarify

These questions allowed me to stretch my ideas of what the photo

could be. It was definately an uncomfortable process because I
kept second guessing myself and thinking I was doing it wrong.

I then asked myself, "Which one of these makes me the most

excited to take a picture of?" I highlighted those that stood out to
me and the one I chose was "how can I make a lightbulb more
inspiring?" I then took some time to ideate variations of pictures
having to do with lightbulbs. This is seen in the lower photo.
I decided on, "how can I make a lightbulb more aesthetically
pleasing?" as my leading question.

C3 - Choose

Which one of these ideas makes me the most excited to

take the picture?

Which one of these ideas is the most unique?

Which one of these ideas has a risk to fail aspect to it?

C3 - Choose
I organized ideas based on the criteria of
the questions on the previous slide. I
wanted to make something that is realistic,
yet creative and unique.

I dot pointed ideas that stood out to me as

aesthetically pleasing. I then chose the
most realistic, but out of the area of
familiarity idea of incorporating flowers
with the lightbulb to make it more pleasing
to the eye.

Hero Shot
Pivot: I realized that I couldn't put the flowers
in the light bulb because the glass would
break. I improvised and was able to secure
the flowers using the little mirror wrapped
around it. It made it look like the flowers were
in there like a vase.
I put a clean backdrop of a blue background, but also played with the angles and
colors of the photo. I did not like two of my first photos. I thought they were a bit
thrown together and not very clean looking. The final photo, I was able to play with
the light and location of the bulb to make the flowers look more full and alive.

I am really happy with the final image I created because it is what I envisioned for the
idea of a aesthetically pleasing light bulb. It had to blend in, yet stand out in a way.
Going back to the drawing board

How do I make the pictures even better

and more creative. Could I add elements
to the image or manipulate the images I
have?

I decided that I could take pictures of the

light bulb in flowers to show a more
aestetically pleasing light bulb.
I really liked these newer photos, but I am still sticking with my
original hero shot as the photo I have created for this C4.

This photo C4 process taught me a lot about looking from a different

perspective and trying new things, depsite my VOJ telling me the idea
is bad or that I am on the wrong track.
