Good Morning everyone! My name is Alfred Madelo from Sto. Nino Tukuran I will be
your competency assessor in Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II
With us here , is our AC Manager Maam Maria Theresa Ramonal, our Processing
Officer Maam and our TESDA Representative Sir/Mam? Good Morning. They are here to
oversee the proper conduct of competency assessment and to check whether the
competency assessment is accordance with the prescribed competency assessment
methodology and procedures. Don’t you worry because they will not assess you?
Before we start kindly submit to me your admission slip. As I call your name kindly
acknowledge yourself by raising your hand and sign the attendance sheet.
I have here with me your application form and self-assessment guide this is an
indication that you know and can perform all the units of competency enumerated in
this qualification
I would like to welcome all of you to our assessment center for Electrical Installation
and Maintenance NC II
But before we start let us know what is Assessment- Assessment is a process of
collecting evidence and making judgments whether or not the competency has been
achieved. The main purpose of this assessment is to determine the level of your
competency.
Today I’m going to administer competency assessment in Electrical Installation and
Maintenance NC II. The qualification of Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II
composed of Common, Basic and Core Competencies for the Core Competencies it
composed of 3 competencies we have:
 PERFORM ROUGHING-IN ACTIVITIES, WIRING AND CABLING WORKS FOR SINGLE-PHASE
DISTRIBUTION, POWER, LIGHTING AND AUXILIARY SYSTEMS
 INSTALL ELECTRICAL PROTECTIVE DEVICES FOR DISTRIBUTION, POWER, LIGHTING, AUXILIARY,
LIGHTNING PROTECTION AND GROUNDING SYSTEMS
 INSTALL WIRING DEVICES OF FLOOR AND WALL MOUNTED OUTLETS, LIGHTING FIXTURE/SWITCHES
AND AUXILLIARY OUTLETS

A person who has achieved this qualification is competent to be a
 Building-Wiring Electrician
 Residential/Commercial-Wiring Electrician
 Maintenance Electrician

The different tasks to be performed in our Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC
II are the following:
 PERFORM ROUGHING-IN ACTIVITIES, WIRING AND CABLING WORKS FOR SINGLE-
PHASE DISTRIBUTION, POWER, LIGHTING AND AUXILIARY SYSTEMS
 Install electrical metallic /nonmetallic (PVC conduit)
 Install wire ways and cable tray
 Install auxiliary terminal cabinet and distribution panel
 Prepare for cable pulling and installation
 Perform wiring and cabling lay out

 INSTALL ELECTRICAL PROTECTIVE DEVICES FOR DISTRIBUTION, POWER,

LIGHTING, AUXILIARY, LIGHTNING PROTECTION AND GROUNDING SYSTEMS
 Install electrical protective devices
 Install lighting fixture and auxiliary outlet

 INSTALL WIRING DEVICES OF FLOOR AND WALL MOUNTED OUTLETS, LIGHTING

FIXTURE/SWITCHES AND AUXILLIARY OUTLETS
 Install wiring devices
 Install lighting fixture/ switches

To determine your knowledge and skills for Electrical Installation and

Maintenance NC II the assessment method we will use is demonstration observation,
and oral questioning. This method can help you to measure your underpinning
knowledge and skills.
Before we will start with the assessment proper please do your personal
necessities so that you will not disturb during the assessment because I will not allow
you to go out from the assessment venue while you are doing the task.
If you have difficulty in understanding the giving instruction please do not hesitate
to ask me because I am more than willing to translate it to you.
If you have concern about the process of assessment or there’s a need for you to
clarify with please raise your hand coz I am more than willing to assist you. But once
the assessment has started please refrain asking questions because that is no longer
allowed. And also if you have physical or any form of difficulties do not hesitate to call
my attention so that we can address it immediately.
After the assessment if you have some questions about the result of the
assessment you have the right to appeal you can submit you appeal to the TESDA
Provincial Office where the assessment center and assessors are accredited.
For the issuance of national certificate the AC manager will inform you were to
claim your NCII certificate within 3 working days after the assessment.
After the assessment if you found out that you are not yet competent don’t worry
about it coz you can be re-assess anytime at your convenience. In case the
assessment is full qualification you have to undergo the whole process of assessment
process. If you found out to be competent in some unit of competencies where you
are found to be not yet competent also if you failed two consecutive assessment you
are advice to undergo a refresher core before applying for re-assessment.
 During the assessment please observe health and safety procedures in performing
the different tasks. Observe proper body mechanics to avoid bad injuries in case of
accident please call my attention immediately so that we can provide you the first aid.
With regards to the result of the assessment we observe strict confidentiality to
ensure our integrity. The result is only made available to the authorized personnel
and the institution where you had your actual training. Regarding about the
assessment package it will be kept in a safe place to guarantee the integrity of the
assessment package.
If you don’t have any questions then I will now give to you the specific instruction.
Please read it carefully and do not hesitate to ask question right now, and maybe I
will translate it from English to our local dialect. If you need assistance then I am
more than willing to assist you.
I will now give this to you your assigned numbers (candidate no. 1 proceed to the
assessment area) and the other candidates please remain while I call you by your
numbers. (Instruct the candidate no.1 to read the specific instruction.) I will be
observing you while you are performing the tasks and after that I will be asking
questions related to your performance.(asks questions) right after followed no.2..
(Feed backing) for candidate no.1 How do you feel about the assessment? (Ma’am I am
confident that I was able to perform well the given tasks even if I had a hard time
answering the oral questioning.
Based on my observation to your performance you have the ability to perform all
the competencies according to relevant standards. You also got a high score in your oral
questioning you have a good communication skills. Since you have done your task very
well and you have good performance, as your assessor I now you certify competent.
Congratulations for a job well done! Kindly affix your signature here in your rating
sheets and in the competency assessment result summary. You can claim your NC at
the TESDA Provincial Office within 3 working days bring with you your CARS and a
passport i.d picture and please provide 50 pesos for the payment once again
congratulations..
For candidate no.2 how do you feel about the assessment? (Ma’am I feel so
nervous because I forgot to follow the ___________.). In that manner you did not perform
well and you need some improvements of this qualification. You have to review the
competency that you are weak and not doing your task as a trainee. Is it okay with you?
You can come back anytime in your convenience for re-assessment. Come back when
you are ready that you already have acquired the competence. You will be only
reassessed on the competency that you we’re found to be not yet competent.
