The education system aims to provide equal opportunity for all children, regardless of
their background. However, sociological evidence suggests that not all children of the
same ability achieve the same success in education.

1. By providing adequate examples and justifications express your opinion on the


reasons that contribute to the situation described in the above statement in the
Malaysian context.

2. Evaluate the above statement in the light of the following issues:


a) Stratification, and
b) Role of race, class and gender in student achievement.

3. Briefly propose two ways in which an individual can contribute to rectifying the
situation described in the statement above.

Sistem pendidikan diwujudkan dengan tujuan memberi peluang sama rata kepada semua
kanak-kanak tanpa mengambil kira latar belakang mereka. Walau bagaimanapun bukti
sosiologi membayangkan bahawa tidak semua kanak-kanak memiliki keupayaan yang
sama untuk mencapai kejayaan yang sama dalam pendidikan.

1. Dengan memberi contoh dan justifikasi yang cukup, beri pendapat anda tentang
sebab musabab yang membawa kepada situasi yang diceritakan dalam kenyataan
di atas dalam konteks Malaysia.
