Introduction to Business Analytics

Part A
Introduction
Business analytics always helps collect a large amount of data quickly, which is present in a
captivating visual way. It is also considered a way of achieving various specified goals and
better choices about those matters that are taken into account of Facebook's business. This
report is mainly based on evaluating the new scheme by focusing on data usability, ethical
considerations, and data security of Facebook's business. Similarly, the second part of it is
based on preparing a PowerPoint presentation to discuss various issues for the specified
organization.

Data Usability
Data usability is considered to be the ability of a Facebook user to derive various information
that is useful (Aydiner et al. 2019). It also includes various data in a series of text files, which
must be complex processing of weeks for a suitable analysis of its performance. It also
includes of few more points to be explained such as:

 Benefits and the cost of a database to its stakeholders: The database

management system is a collection of various data that are interrelated to each other
and program sets to access those data. Generally, the collection of various data on
Facebook is considered a database, and during April, Facebook announced a
similar breach of cybersecurity. This breach was related to its database and also
resulted in around 267 million profiles of Facebook users to be sold on the dark
web. These profiles consisted of various information that included phone numbers,
email, and names sold for an amount of $623. There are also various benefits of
databases to its stakeholders, such as:
 Effective integration of data: Implementing a database system helps its
stakeholders integrate with Facebook's various organizational
operations (Camm et al., 2020). It is also beneficial in seeing processes
in any of the segments affecting other segments of Facebook.
 Quick Decision making: A better system of database management and
its procedures come with higher quality information. This database
management system of Facebook is also helpful in facilitating various
initiatives of the quality of data. These initiatives will be beneficial in

making faster as well as better decisions for various stakeholders of
Facebook.
 Increasing productivity of End User: Deploying the database system
helps in assuming the adoption of the stakeholders' positivity. This will
increase productivity for Facebook users, which will empower its end-
users or stakeholders to make informed and quick decisions. This will
be a helpful contribution to the failure or success of Facebook in the
long run.
 Predictive, descriptive, and prescriptive applications for data available in
software of required data analytics tool:
Descriptive data is generally about the aggregation of data and its mining for
answering what happened in Facebook's past. It shows that Facebook was the
leading network of a social service provider by acquiring giants such as what’s app
and Instagram in 2014 and 2012 (Ceccucci et al. 2020). It also can be a description
or summarization of raw data’s of Facebook which can be useful in making
something more interpretable by every individual user of Facebook. Descriptive
data basically consist of data described in past and is the point of occurred incident
whenever it has occurred like the hacking of Facebook accounts.
Predictive Applications of data was generally considered the method of forecasting
techniques that explained what could happen in the future. In the future, Facebook
planned to stop providing access to its data to the developers of third party
applications.
Prescriptive applications of data are useful in optimization and simulating
algorithms to provide its advice on every possible outcome of what to do. This
prescriptive analysis will be mainly focusing on the quantification of various
software tools with the effect of decisions of the future to advise all the possible
outcomes by data analytics tools used by it.

Data privacy and security

Data security- It mainly explains Facebook databases' issues, which might be hacked
according to the flaws of its features (Delen & Ram, 2018). In data security, hackers of
Facebook might break into various legitimate credentials and systems compelling to run it in
any of its arbitrary modes. It also sounds complex, although as because this can be accessed

by gaining from several flaws, which are essential and inherent to its features. There was also
a Facebook cybersecurity breach, and this breach also resulted in the selling of around 267
million profiles of peoples on Facebook. These profiles were sold to Dark Web, and it also
included various necessary Email addresses and contact details of individuals using Facebook
for an amount of $623. These profiles were hacked, and those people whose profiles were
compromised were considered to be at risk to a fall victim of various phishing texts and
emails. This was hacked to retrieve various information as well as passwords of individuals.

Data Privacy- Data privacy was about controlling data collected and the process used by
Facebook, and it explained the development of various relational data bases. This was used to
clear various queries analysis and reporting. It is also provided with various opportunities to
use and access data in every possible way. This, although it may have various benefits along
with few methods of collection of data to raise concerns related to Facebook privacy.

Accuracy Issues- Data accuracy is considered key to Facebook's success, and it also refers to
various data values stored with correct values. Therefore to be correct, this data values might
be a good value that might be represented in an unambiguous form for the noted issues of
hacking Facebook profiles.

Ethical Considerations
Ethical consideration of Facebook is generally the issue raised by every individual who uses
Facebook, and their account has been hacked (Mikalef et al. 2020). These issues are mostly
longitudinal data that are linked with various administrative records of Facebook. There are
few ethical considerations which are as follows and needs to be explained, such as:

 Ethical Considerations whether Facebook users have options to opt-in and out of
their stored data: During the year 2020, April Facebook announces of breach of
cybersecurity-related to its database. It also resulted in the selling of profiles of
around 267 million people. It was sold in the dark web, and these profiles included
essential contact details, and it was sold at an amount of a mere $623. This stolen
information's included passwords and email addresses of every individual with a
compromised risk of phishing emails and texts to retrieve passwords and important
information. It was also found that Facebook has logged in with data with the
phones of different users, and their texts and phone calls were collected without
having clear informed to its users. It was seen that it was going against the privacy
policy of Facebook, which was claimed earlier with data that were acquired. This
7

was mainly for those Facebook users who might have claimed earlier or opted to
collect the data. Facebook started logging to phone calls and text messages of its
users just before it was notified explicitly of contradicting and practicing with its
earlier claims. This earlier clams included uploading various critical information
that was always required to opt-in the profiles. Nowhere was the dialogue of opting
out as it was made clear that histories of texts will be uploaded to Facebook servers.
 Ethical issues of maintaining, gathering, and using those data: There are various
ethical issues connected with the gathering of various ethical issues. These ethical
issues are related to conducting data collection, which includes minor rights of data.
During the year 2018, it was also recognized that the stored data was approximately
for profiles of 50 million peoples. This was mainly harvested by British analytics,
which can be used to target different Facebook users in POTUS's electoral
campaign.

Part B
1. Data sharing encourages more and more collaborations and connections in the community,
which can lead to new findings of the reason behind this hacking (Sun, 2020). Data sharing is
considered to be more helpful for the community as sharing of data might increase its
circulation by using its scientific community by communicating with its better transparency.
Data circulation can also be increased by enabling the results reproducibility, better
transparency, and more considerably informing the scientific community.

2. The data of every individuals on face book can be securely and ethically sourced. Securing
of data is most important in this case of hacking. It is important because it is helpful in
adhering various ethical norms, promotion of various researches and searching of evidences.
This searching of aims also includes of aiming on truth, knowledge as well avoidance of
errors. There are also various ethical issues which can be considered during the collection of
data of face book such as the confidentiality, anonymity as well as privacy of privacy (Sun,
Strang & Firmin, 2017). These above commonly used ethical concerns can be applicable on
researching on internet.

3. In order to keep data of Facebook safe as well as de identified there various types of
strategies which includes of masking of several types of personal identifiers as well a deleting
them. These data also can be such generalizing of quasi-identifiers as well as suppressing of
personal names of every individuals. There are also other methods of protecting important
8

data such as coding of specific files or data, use of interpretations as well as electronic
records. De-identification of data of every individuals mainly aims on allowing its data to be
used by every individuals with no possibilities of being identified. It protects privacy of
Facebook as well as every individual users of it in order to ensure and identify various
species which are never available publicly.

4. Transgressions of ethics in visualizing of important data might be an intentional or

unintentional use of any of deceptive techniques which are considered to be potential for
Facebook. Also, in order to alter the understandings of every individual user this types of
information are presented generally (Vidgen, Shaw, & Grant 2017). Visualizing data also
enables various users to absorb the information properly in order to identify updated ways
which can be helpful in decision making for Facebook.

Conclusion
The above report is mainly based on the evaluation of a new scheme for Facebook and is
divided into two different parts. The first part of it has been explained by focusing on its
ethical considerations, data security, and data privacy. Similarly, its second part is about
preparing a PowerPoint presentation with the discussion of various issues described and
imagining various communications of presentations. This report is also structured by
addressing the various areas related to the above issues of Facebook. Data usability includes
various costs as well as its benefits on databases of stakeholders of Facebook. It also provides
brief information of predictive, descriptive as well as prescriptive applications.
