Grade 7-9 PE Strate/Fritzke 2020-2021

Physical activity is vital to all aspects of normal growth and development,

and the benefits are widely recognized. Students do not develop automatically
the requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes that lead to active, healthy
lifestyles. Such learning should begin in childhood. Schools and teachers can be
prime facilitators in providing opportunities for the development of the desire
for lifelong participation in physical activity.

These are the main areas the PE Program of studies covers.

Active Living - The physical education program emphasizes active living, with a
focus on physical activity that is valued and integrated into daily life.

Benefits of Physical Education and Activity- Strong evidence exists that physical
activity contributes to the overall well-being of individuals. People of all
ages can substantially improve their health and quality of life by including a
moderate amount of physical activity into their daily routines both
individually and in a team concept.

There are four General Outcomes we cover with activities

Activity- acquire skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate
movement activities; dance, games, types of gymnastics,
individual activities and activities in an alternative
environment; e.g., aquatics
and outdoor pursuits.

Benefits Health- understand, experience and appreciate the health benefits

that result from physical activity.

Cooperation- interact positively with others

Do it Daily for Life- assume responsibility to lead an active way of life.
