CHAPTER: FUNDAMENTALS OF ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

RESTAURANT

I started my restaurant 5 months ago and since this business is in Karachi and has been going
good so far. I hired some chefs and we came up with innovate idea about how we can setup our
restaurant and what type of food we should offer to the people. And then we decided about the
interior and design of our restaurant with a theme of all the heroes of our nation that our
upcoming generation should know about and the things they did for their country.
We made our restaurant centrally air-conditioned, having a free-WIFI and individual space for
people who would like to work while enjoying their meal. We have also installed a book shelf
from where people can read newspapers, educational theories, some Sci-fiction books or even
story books and novel to pass time.

Q1: Which structure is suitable for your organization and why?


Ans: The structure for the restaurant will be functional structure because under this structure the
people that perform similar tasks are grouped together and have a supervisor/manager to look
after them in case they are having trouble with their task the supervisor/manager will ensure they
do not get off tracks during their interactions with the customers and carrying out their tasks. For
instance, all the finances and accounts are taken care by finance head, and similarly Marketing
and Human Resource department will have their supervisors to look after their junior’s work.
This structure may ease up all the tough work because all the people in the department focus on a
particular task and learn something that how difficult situations should be managed. This
structure also helps to achieve day to day task efficiently and effectively and work like who
reports to whom. This structure will also maintain the hierarchal discipline and will also help the
employees to understand the true meaning of following the chain of command structure. And
each department has a leader to instruct the workers under him and he reports to the owner of the
